ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I odined back to stock and still videos don't work. and on top of that I'm an idiot for re flashing the newest build with the call bug...
Yes I can confirm with newest nightly no calls and I just odined back AGAIN and fresh installed the 4/19 nightly and still no videos will play!!! What the heck!
Still no videos. Is it possible that all my nightlys ive downloaded somehow got corrupted?
Two questions come to mind...
1. Can you play video in stock? Your phone isn't brokey is it?
2. Have you tried double flashing the nightly? It stands to reason that if there are issues with the package that sometimes require a second flash then those issues could affect something like video playback.

OK I'm trying the double flash right now if that doesn't work I'll report back from stock.
Video works after secondary flash. One thing I didn't do was flash a glitch kernel from AOKP and a system optimizer. So maybe thats the problem that glitch kernel (which is a bigmem version) Crashes videos I guess. and here comes the flaming...
It clearly states in the glitch thread that big mem axes the video as it is a mem hog. You have failed and spread your failure around to others. You have wasted my time. Feel bad. Kbye

Thank you for your help anyway. I'm still partcially new to this stuff...=\
I asked on here because for about 4 days video was working with the bigmem kernel...but yeah your right and I apologize for wasting your time...
the OP which you are supposed to read before posting said:Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
I just flashed the most recent nightly on mine and my wife's captivate doing the exact same standard flashing. On hers the boot screen that everybody talks about shows up. On mine nothing. Just a black screen until it gets to my home screen. Any ideas?

I had a "problem" with my phone showing the AT&T splash screen twice instead of the CM splash screen a while back. The phone started fine and CM worked fine, but the boot sequence was not quite right. It turned out that flashing to GB boot loaders fixed the "problem." Do you know what boot loaders you are running? If you are not using i897 GB boot loaders, it might be worth testing to see if that fixed the boot animation problem.
GB boot loaders are not required to run CM9, but if you do a one time flash of the i897 GB boot loaders, you should never have to touch your boot loaders again for any reason, so it is worth the one time flash.

I'm not very familiar with bootloaders. It's just odd cause mine and my wife's cappy were set up exactly the same. We had no problem with boot animation before I flashed the most recent nightly and her boot animation works as it should and mine doesn't. I think I might just wait until another nightly and see if that fixes the problem. I suppose I could re-flash the most recent nightly again, but it's not that big of a deal and I can wait until the new one. Thanks for you help and response.

check and uncheck the "disable boot animation" option...reboot and report back

I understand this is a nightly thread. I was unable to find a stable release anywhere and figured I'd ask here as this is the only CM9 thread that I found for the Captivate.
No wonder people keep telling me XDA is going downhill. Everyone here seems to get all butthurt when someone asks a question.
pawitp,
I understand the importance of following the standard method used on other Cyanogenmod devices, but I am curious how this compares to devices with no external sdcard option (such as the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus)? Do these devices also have the internal sdcard mounted to /mnt/emmc and nothing mounted to /mnt/sdcard? While I realize that you made the change to follow a standard used by other devices, how does it make any sense to tell people that the internal card is mounted as "external multimedia card" (emmc)?
I think it makes much more sense for the entire CM team to revisit how sdcards (internal and external) are named and mounted to come up with something that makes more sense for every device rather than being arbitrarily based on a standard that was in place since the G1 and other devices that did not have an internal SD card. The Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus should be the references, especially in CM9, not old devices that will never even run CM9.
The download link in the first post is wrong. That link is for the international Galaxy S. Here is the link for the Captivate.
