I remember rooting my phone one way, then another update to address some r/w issues that came out and I did that. SO based on download dates, I have 9/14 dated motoroot, and 9/15 dated PwnMyMoto. So I must be rooted with PwnMyMoto.
I have tried to reboot to recovery, but my phone just continues to a regular boot. Further research indicates I need to install houseofmoto for a fxz with save data. Then download and install the latest update.
Finally, my actual question, the only current way to root the latest OTA would be to use RockMyMoto with all the adb commands, correct?
And theoretically I could go to Settings, Apps, All Apps, and freeze the file Updater.apk if I did not want to be prompted to install this latest update that downloaded?
I swear I remember reading somewhere that there was a way to download a root exploit, not run it, accept an update, and after 2 reboots, the phone would root itself. What exactly was this?
Now that we have safe strap, wouldn't it be best to A. Freeze the update B. Install safestrap C.Wait for a rooted zip of the latest OTA and just flash that?
All these one click tools the past 2 years have made me a bit foggy on using ADB but I know with the support of this forum if I go that route to root I will be ok. It's really not that difficult. And furthermore while I am thankful for all of the user friendly development, had I not chosen the easier softer way, I probably would be running the latest and greatest and rooted right this second!
Thanks in advance!
