I grabbed the build from yesterday (July 9). Upgrading from a Froyo rom, it is running extremely smoothly. GPS works, WiFi works, all the apps work and everything is much faster than it was. I am hoping it will stay this robust in the coming weeks that I use it. If it does, it will be hard for me to justify getting a new phone in the future! Thanks, guys.

I can vouch for CM9, it is extremely fast and doesn't slow down much as long as you manage your memory wisely... cheers

Yes but there is no need. Hold down the home button and it will show all cached apps, and there is a little broom icon which will remove them all from memory... its very handy

Which Devil kernel? if it is .98 then you must flash .86 first boot then flash .98. or you could just flash .99, thats what i am using now

Hey, FE, I've had this question for a long while now. You replied to some of the questions in this thread that its up to the guys that develop CM. Aren't you part of the CM development team? I never got how the CM development works.

I am a maintainer, there are more core CyanogenMod members. I could try to help on the linaro patches but I'm lazy and didn't know as much, and it would still require them to accept it anyway.

Please elaborate on how GPS works. These phones have notoriously bad GPS hardware and to my knowledge no developer has been able to get GPS working without qualifications - like must get initial GPS lock on reboot or will fail with deepsleep.

I flashed Devil.99 directly over SZ 159 and got the loops - sounds like a disease. Flashing Devil.99 over stock (from a fresh CM9 nightly flash) works. Or using kernel cleaner from SZ159 also works.

FaultException, is the camcorder known to be not working on CM9? On mine, after flashing 0704 CM9 stock, the video recording function of the camera keeps on closing after 1-2 min all by itself. I have tried earlier CM9 and got still same problem. Can you have the dev check to check that out?

    This thread is for the development of CyanogenMod 9 nightlies for the Samsung Vibrant (aka SGH-T959), the Galaxy S 4G / Vibrant 4G (SGH-T959V) is not supported here. Nightlies are built each night with the very latest code, for this reason, they are extremely experimental and should be avoided by beginners and people who have important responsibilities tied to the usage of their phone.

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    5. If it gives you trouble later, wipe cache, and reboot. If it still gives you trouble, do a full wipe, install again and reboot.

    1. Reboot into recovery
    2. Do a nandroid backup (just in case)
    3. Wipe everything (wipe data/factory reset)

    Ok so here is my 911 experience. I live in Denver by the way, and I just emailed the 911 operations manager about doing a test call. She said that is fine just please do it between 8:30 and 11:30 as that is their lowest call volume.

    So the first time I called it clicked, hung up and disabled my entire cell signal. No signal no data nothing. So I rebooted my phone, and google voice informed me I had 2 missed calls from the Denver PD. I tried again and it worked perfectly. I explained I was testing a piece of software, the woman was very friendly said that was no problem and they wouldn't send anyone out. She also confirmed that all the E911 info came up properly on her screen.

    So I'm not sure what to make of this exactly. One time it did nothing though at least my number got through. The other time it worked great. I mean the first time could have been a glitch entirely unrelated to CM. Hard to say. It leaves me ambigious though. If I have a real emergency I really don't want to wait for the phone to reboot!
