@eppy

does wifi direct or nfc require different firmware than ours? is it possible to integrate in cm9?

nfc requires a dedicated hw chip, which the defy does not have, so nfc wont be available for us. but afaik wifi direct doestbneed any hw change, so that might be an option in the future, but im not sure.

sent from my cm7 defy...

(u need to have this on sdcard!! i had :D)! flash it keeping charger connected!

NOTE: THIS METHOD WHICH I FOLLOWED IS VERY VERY RISKY!!

or else charge your battery from your friend's defy!! (if u have any frnd wd defy :p)

or else use those methods mentioned in above step!!

Data connection issue

Hi guys,

I have huge (I mean really annoying) problem with my data connection. Mainly if I loose signal (subway, basement) and reconnect again, I can use voice services but not data... I found out that I need to turn off and on data connection, but this is not permanent solution... Is there a way to repair this...?

I have green lensed Defy with CM9-NIGHTLY-120606-Defy, but I think I was facing this issue in couple of previous nightlies also...

Same Problem.
Try Connection Checker (App).

Yes Wifi Direct can be incorporated. According some document from Wifi Alliance wifi direct can be implemented in legacy devices. But at present we are facing probs with wifi tethering and wifi direct may take time.
galaxy S2 had wifi direct in gingerbread

Have u download the latest installer for Swype? have ur push it with some root explorer into data/app or maybe in system/app with right permissions? u can see the right permissions at the other apk packs in there.

Defy mit Android 4.0.4 CM9 RockZ

Yes, I tried the new installer... I'll try root explorer method. Thanks!

    maybe a new hope :

+nadlabak: Epsylon3: I've got it! SGX PVR 1.8 running despite the locked milestone kernel :D
    41
yes, like for CM10 ... JB is a kind of Cleanup of ICS which was very experimental.... Its always better the second time, but not all features are merged yet in main CM repos... but almost all...

So we are making a common repo for Defy and Defy+ also, and only this version will have official support... CM9 is already dead ;p
    41
I suppose the image means that the hack in the DEFY's kernel to replace the PVR code is a success. Damn... I was hopeful, but this is beyond expectations! Great job devs!

To be honest though, I'm not in a hurry to jump to ICS, it still has many bugs that don't exist in CM7.2, like some issues with the Data connection and WiFi issues I've been reading here in these forums. Maybe by Fall or Winter this year it will be stable enough for picky users like me ;).

I was expecting problems, but no, that solve almost all problems without any other change !

I think CM9 will be replaced by CM10, like Froyo after Eclair ... Time will tell us
