Mark,

Maybe you missed my initial post concerning a possible bug in the Toolkit v7.0.

http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=37557545&postcount=1307

After making a backup from my internal SD using the "backup SD" option in the Toolkit, it pulled all my files to my PC and everything went well.

However after restoring my SD using the "restore internal SD", my permissions appeared to be screwed up.
I could not delete/modify any file anymore on my internal SD. I got a lot of FC from apps.

What are the correct permissions and owner from the internal SD (=/data/media) ??

Did the toolkit change any permissions/ownership ? I thought I saw a " chmod 775 or 755" flashing on the terminal when restoring my SD (about the last command at the end, IIRC).

To get it working again, I did a :
Code:
su
chmod -R 777 /data/media/*

The owner from each file is now "root" (0), but my permissions are complete open (777)
Somehow this doesn't seem correct.... but I don't know.

So, again : what are the correct permissions and owner from the internal SD (=/data/media) ??
adb shell chmod -R 775 /data/media

adb shell chown media_rw.media_rw /data/media

Mark.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT AUTO UPDATE V7.2.0 [13TH FEB 2013] AVAILABLE!!

Changelog:
+Added Toolkit support for CSPIRE MODEL LTE [SCH-L710]
+Added Toolkit support for AUSTRALIAN MODEL GSM [GT-I9300T]
+Added Toolkit support for AUSTRALIAN MODEL LTE [GT-I9305T]
+Added Toolkit support for GT-I9300 4.1.2 XXEMA2 build
+Added Toolkit support for GT-I9305 4.1.2 XXBMA6 Build
+Updated TWRP Touch Recovery for all models to latest available versions
+Updated SuperSU root to latest version [1.04] and built into Toolkit procedures
+Disabled Superuser root from adb root procedures [for now]
+TWRP NAND Backup and Restore procedures added to backup/restore section
+Updated firmware download section to add new models and builds
+Updated adb to latest version from google
+Added Activation Code option to Model Selection screen for easier activation
+Lots of other textual changes and improvements to Toolkit code
+Probably some more things that I forgot about

If you have any confusion over supported builds please read the HELP screen which you can get to from the Model Selection Screen.

For people who do not want or cannot get the Auto Update versions you can download twrp touch from http://goo.im/devs/mskip/recovery/samsung_galaxy_s3 and flash it via the Toolkit. SuperSU can be updated to the latest version from the app.

[Auto Updates are only accessible if you have donated to the Toolkit project, received an activation code and unlocked the donator features. Auto Updates are a much faster and easier way of pushing small updates that would otherwise not be worth doing. I can push a single textual change or add support for a new build without having to go through the whole process of building a full version and uploading a large file. IF you are not able to or do not want to donate to unlock the Auto Update feature (and other donator features) then all the smaller updates are collated and a full build made when I have time or if there are enough updates to warrant it. This is the easiest way to make sure all the Toolkits are as up to date as possible. IF you have any views about this please pm me about them and do not post in the open thread]

Enjoy :)

Mark.

Hi Mark

I have a donator version of the international toolkit & phone has the Ella build.

Now I'm sure its something I'm doing wrong here...

Downloaded the toolkit, updated, installed drivers, put phone into download mode & drivers successfully installed but my phone serial doesn't show & the program stalls after pressing the options

Sequence is

Option 04 I9300 Ella build 4.1.2 (but I'm guessing this & the rest are irrelevant since no serial or device is showing)
Option 2 Root/unroot
Option 1 Insecure boot
Option 2 Chainfire
Three files copied

Then I just get waiting for debugging to be enabled

Is there another option in the settings I'm missing - have just checked the allow USB debugging option, I can get it into download mode so guessing this too is ok?

Thanks
Phil :)

BTW have tried media & P2P mode

You're probably still missing the drivers for ADB access.
Unplug from PC, make sure USB debugging is selected and plug again in PC.
Windows should now install the needed drivers (normally full automatic process if you have installed the drivers from the Toolkit)

What I don't understand is the fact that the Rooting did not give any errors : have you checked if the rooting was successful ?
Do you have root-access on the device ??

Thanks for the reply

Tried that a few times, no it didn't root just hangs on "waiting for USB"

It definitely installed the drivers, came up with the message installing drivers & drivers installed device ready to use & shows in device manage when I connect the phone - really stumped!!

I seemed to have the same error as well, been using this perfect tool for quite a while now, i even used it to nandroid a CM10.1 nightlies last night before installing the new nightly. Now i tried to do another nandroid since i'll be messing up with my framework.jar in a while but it got stuck on "Waiting for USB debugging to be enabled"... Does this have something to do with the recent update?

I tried to download the v7.2 but it failed, "Server Offline. Please hang tight while we get this resolved".

I've been using your toolkit since the start of the month and it's been very useful.

After a recent bootloop and firmware flash, I decided to open the toolkit up again to root my phone. Unfortunately, it seems like I can't download the boot images. I've attached a screenshot. I'm using v7.0 and I shut down my antivirus prior to running the toolkit.

Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this.

Are you logged in as Administrator on your Win8 ?
Try to launch ODIN as Admin ; does this help ?

Probably an incomplete or corrupt download.
Test the GT-I9300 zip using 7zip, WinRAR, or any archiver you have (all should be able to open a ZIP)

Delete the file and update again.

Hi,

Got a weird problem with S3 Toolkit.

When I want to execute the program, it says :
"File not found - C:\DOCUME~1\L
'G' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
The system cannot find the path specified.
'C:\DOCUME~1\L' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'G' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
The system cannot find the path specified."

I have just reinstalled Java : it's still not working.

I have no problem with the SDK or Eclipse.

I search the folder "C:\DOCUME~1\L" and I find a hidden folder with the remains of an old installation of the Android SDK.

Any ideas to resolve this problem ?

Thanks,

You didn't flash the "insecure" kernel, did you ?
This is absolutely needed to get your phone Rooted using the Toolkit via ADB.
Also most other things from the TK need an "insecure"kernel.

Pick the build that is the closest to your current build (and flash it using TK (it will fire up ODIN).

After this, you can root your phone, not the other way around !!

SUPPORTED DEVICES AND LATEST SUPPORTED BUILDS *HERE*

DOWNLOAD THE SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT *HERE* (FROM SKIPSOFT.NET)

NOTE: As the exe files are not Digitally Signed with a Microsoft Certificate they 'may' get picked up as potentially harmful by Antivirus Programs and deleted on first run. If this happens restore the file and exclude it from future scans to use it. This seems to happen mostly on AVG Free and Norton which is why I switched to BitDefender which is much better.

Credits: Chainfire for SuperSU, koush and the clockworkmod team for cwm and the universal driver pack, 1wayjonny for the adb/fastboot driver pack, Adam Lange for all his support and help with the insecure kernels.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC (FREE) AND PROFESSIONAL (DONATE) VERSIONS?
THE PUBLIC VERSION OF THE TOOLKIT INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED TO MANIPULATE YOUR DEVICE. NOTHING IS RESTRICTED.

ACTIVATING THE PROFESSIONAL VERSION ADDS THE MOST USEFUL FUNCTION IN THE TOOLKIT, THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR 'AUTO UPDATES' DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT AND HAVE THEM PUSHED TO YOUR PC RIGHT AWAY AS SOON AS THEY ARE UPLOADED WITHOUT NEEDING TO DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE TOOLKIT EVERY TIME. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE LATEST VERSION AS SOON AS IT IS MADE AVAILABLE. THIS MEANS SMALLER UPDATES CAN BE SENT OUT MORE FREQUENTLY, SUCH AS ADDING A SINGLE FUNCTION, FIXING A BUG OR ADDING COMPATIBILITY FOR A SINGLE CARRIER. THE SMALLER UPDATES WILL BE COMPILED AND RELEASED TO THE XDA COMMUNITY AS A FULL (PUBLIC) DOWNLOAD VERSION SO PROFESSIONAL VERSIONS ARE ALWAYS UPDATED SOONER.
THE PRO VERSION ALSO ADDS THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF SUPERUSER AND RECOVERY FILES AND DOWNLOAD THEM DIRECTLY TO THE TOOLKIT.
THE 'QUICK PICKS' SECTION[/B] ALLOWS YOU TO PROGRAM UPTO 10 SLOTS WITH TASKS THAT YOU MAY PERFORM ON A REGULAR BASIS OR JUST WANT TO KEEP A SET OF TASKS IN 1 PLACE. THEN JUST SELECT THE SLOT AND IT WILL REMEMBER ALL YOUR SETTINGS FOR THAT TASK AND RUN IT.
PRO USERS CAN ALSO SELECT THE "ANY BUILD" OPTION IN THE BUILD SELECTION SCREEN TO ROOT ANY BUILD (USEFUL IF YOUR BUILD IS NOT LISTED).

AUTO REPLY LINKS FOR PAYPAL TO GET A CODE INSTANTLY CAN BE FOUND AT http://goo.gl/nyGqv

    --------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE READ THE *HELP* PAGE AT http://www.skipsoft.net/?page_id=1269 OR USE THE INFORMATION SECTION WITHIN THE TOOLKIT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF TIME TO WRITE IT AND SOMETHING ON THERE SHOULD ANSWER 99% OF PROBLEMS.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    1. INSTALLING ADB/FASTBOOT DRIVERS

The first thing you need to do is to install the adb/fastboot drivers. These are needed so that you can unlock your bootloader, root your device and perform other adb/fastboot functions.

THE DRIVERS CAN BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT. OPTION 1 IN THE MAIN MENU.

If drivers are not installed or there is an exclamation mark next to the device:
Plug the device in to a usb cable directly connected to your motherboard.
In the Device Manager a new item, usually called Android 1.0 should pop up in the list.
Right click on the device item then left click on Update Driver Software. Select 'browse my computer' and then 'Let me pick from a list'.
If no adb interface driver appears in the list then untick 'Show compatible hardware' and find the Android or Samsung adb interface driver.
If you cannot find either of these click Have Disk, browse to the Toolkit install folder, drivers folder, click on android_winusb.inf and click Open.
Click OK and select Google ADB Interface.

Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in settings, developer options. In Android 4.2.2 or later you have to enable the developer options screen by going to settings, About on your device and click on Build number at the bottom 7 times until it says You are now a developer. If you have already enabled usb debugging then unplug/replug the usb cable.

On Android 4.2.2 or later when you replug the usb cable after enabling usb debugging for the first time you will get a popup asking you to authenticate your pc. Tick 'Always allow' then click 'ok'.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    2. USING SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT

When starting the Toolkit you will first be asked which device you want to work with. Working folders will be created and the device files downloaded. You will then be taken to the Model/Build selection screen where you can do a number of things (other than select your model/build): Type '00' to enter your activation code and enable pro features, 'i' will take you to the Information and Help Section, 'a' will give you information on how to add support for a new build.

Supported builds are listed in the Model/Build selection screen and typing the associated number (i.e. 11) will download needed boot and recovery files (stock and custom recovery) then check for and download the latest superuser files available and custom recovery (pro versions only), verify all the files and start the Main Menu. You can now use all the functions and tools the Android Toolkit offers. Pro users can select the "any build" option to root any build (useful if your build is not listed).

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    USEFUL INFORMATION

How to get into Recovery Mode
    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Shut down the phone.
    3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.

How to get into Download Mode (For Odin)
    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Shut down the phone.
    3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.

This Updater file will update your Toolkit to the latest version and add the latest support the Toolkit offers. Download the below file, move the file to the Toolkit installation folder and run the file to update to the latest version.

THIS IS AN XDA EXCLUSIVE AND MUST NOT BE REDISTRIBUTED IN ANY FORM!!

IF YOU ARE PLEASED WITH HOW THE TOOLKIT WORKS DON'T BE TIGHT AND CONSIDER DONATING TO THE PRO VERSION TO SAY THANK YOU AND GET UPDATES PUSHED STRAIGHT TO YOUR TOOLKIT WITHOUT HAVING TO UPDATE MANUALLY. A LOT OF WORK GOES IN TO THE TOOLKITS AND IM ALWAYS TRYING TO MAKE THEM BETTER. THANK YOU.
