Using Launcher Pro Shortcuts and a transparent PNG as the button. The menu items (media, apps etc..) is embedded into the wallpaper.

There is a great tutorial on how to do this on a Android phone, I just applied this to a larger form.

How do you make your notification bar like that? and can this be achieved only with root?

Are you using a themed version of launcher pro or did you theme it yourself? I've never seen the Friends widget or the calendar look like that. If you did theme it, mind sharing the file?

Its a Launcher Pro skin that you can download for free from the Market.

The notification bar is the TouchWiz version, I rooted to put TouchWiz on. However it is supposed to be released next week apparently

That is touchwiz and that's the stock digital clock.
