I am confused and would be very grateful if you could help me understand. I am following the instruction on this link. Posted by @jlmcr87.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1330314
.
its the ics update to build 4.0.4 and xperia calls it : 4.1.B.0.431
.
So its FT doing all of the heavy lifting. First you do the rom. I did that and it works and its very cool. Then right below the rom link which says :
NEW ! ROOT THE NEW 4.1.B.0.431 FIRMWARE (For unlocked bootloaders): http://uploaded.to/file/2gt28pco
.
And I tried that and the link was dead...
.
Today I am investigating and see : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=751
@jcgechevarria is posting a good links ! ! !
.
am trying now. hmmm, i do not have 'fastboot'...

You have two ways of booting into fastboot :

First way : unplug and shutdown the phone. Press the menu button and plug it to PC. Blue light will light on. You are in fastboot mode

Second way :
Phone is up and running, and plugged to PC. Enable USB Debugging.
then run fastboot toolbox by clicking the Flash icon and choosing Fastboot.
You have a button saying "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)". It will make your phone reboot into fastboot mode.

Thank you for your help !
when I did the 'first way', I got a pop up ( install ? ) box.
.
okay, i searched like a mad man and came up with something...
.
next it pops up another window... ADB Interface...
.
then it is stuck at "WinUSBCoInstaller2.dll" . . . oh boy . . .
.
yikes. what a pain. off searching again. found it in "usb_driver_r04-windows.zip" from :
https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/re...04-windows.zip
.
now my device manager has a "android phone" within it.

I have a LT18i and never had any issue flashing gb or ics with latest release of flashtool. What kind of problem do you have?
