Thumbs up Otterbox Commuter in Dell car dock

I have the OEM car-dock from Dell and it holds my Streak dressed in its Otterbox commuter case very well. I didn't like the Dell Goose-Neck though, as there is a lot of bounce to it. I had an old Arkon mount and was able to attach the Streak holder to the mount via the slot-key so it works great now!

Not yet, just got it yesterday, and haven't had a chance yet. Maybe this weekend.

The Dell car mount can be "stretched" to use with a case on the phone but it is tight. This gallery shows some pics of the Streak with just a TPU case on fitted into the mount. For me the fit was too tight. YMMV.
Never ask before searching!

With my Otterbox Defender, I use SlipGrip Car Holder. Tough and easy to fit in.... I don't know if it works with Commuter though...

I bought a Ram-mount handlebar mount for my harley
I took the existing dell windshield mount and whacked off the clip on the back of the streak mount (pliers and a file)
Then took the included mount connector from the Ram-Mount and gorilla glued it in the place of clip I whacked off.

It is a rock solid beast, none of that bouncing around that the windshield gooseneck did. BTW, the suction cup finally failed which is what precipitated this modification.

I'm buying a commuter case today to see if it fits in the dell mount. It does fit

(yes, I did build USB ports into the speedo console)
