[Q] HTC Magic destroys sd cards

I have an unlocked HTC Magic with 1.5 (build No 3.05.720.3 CL#98222 release-keys) that works just fine...except that it destroys every sd card I put in it. Is it something I'm doing wrong...or is the problem in the phone? More importantly, how can I fix it without wasting any more money on the card? Please help.

What do you mean it destroys the SD card? Sounds like maybe a gremlin is hiding in there.

I insert a new 8gb sd card, turn on the phone and for example, attempt to take a photo. That's when I'm presented with a message saying the sd card is missing or defective. That is my meaning of "destroyed" although I'm a newbie at doing this.

Scared to root my phone

Can anyone give me a FOOL proof way to root my phone, without bricking it, thank you

I had the same problem. I bought a class 4 card and it works fine now. The phone seems to have problems with class 2 cards

Have you tried reformatting the card to FAT32 from a computer?
