Default Prair aluminium / Otterbox / Leather sleave

I'm looking for an alternative case for the Desire Z/G2 than the usual leather sleaves and the plastic clip on cases like the Otter and others.

My problem with the leather sleaves is the lack of protection when the phone is out of the sleave and I've read on this forum that they don't all fully cover the phone when in the case, exposing the top few mm of the phone which could be damaged in a fall.
I've also got mixed feelings about the plastic clip on cases like the otterbox and the cheaper versions. I've have the cheaper ones on a Nokia N86 and now my Desire Z and both broke within 3 months on the weak clips. I should add that I've only taken off the case off the HTC on the back 4 times and the never the front but not sides have broken clips. I've read in the otter link that some users have found the clips to be a weak point which is annoying for a relatively expensive case.

Has anyone tried and tested the Pdair aluminium case series? The phone sits in the metal case which has a soft lining. To access the keyboard you have to open the front which has a hinge and clip. I would like to know how you've got on with the case and how annoying the hinge might have become having to open it everytime you want to use the keyboard. Also want to know how it has held up if you've had of for more than a couple of months?

They sell the removal tools for the plastic clip on cases on ebay for like 50 cents... Thats what I use now after breaking 3 different cases when I needed to pop them off

I've seen the removal tools/guitar picks online but from my experience the clips are the weak point and mine broke on one side without being dropped or taken off.

I suppose the Z hinge makes it difficult to design a case and the Ali pdair looks the most protective but also ott a bit. Anyone here used one yet?

I like the look of this case far more than I like the look of the Otterbox. Though a clasp may come in irritating at times, I would prefer to have the unibody impact protection of a full case such as this. In fact, I like this so much that come past rent due, I will probably purchase this case and give it a full writeup.

Edit: Alright so here we are a few days later. I've installed my screen protector and ripped the phone apart to replace the stock spring for the z-hinge. I've had a little difficulty at work that has yet to be resolved so I'll be holding off on dropping cash on the case for another week or two. Will be back with a nice video dissertation and writeup. I've been reviewing cases for the past week and this looks like a solid bet for me and my usage.
