Yes if you changed your phone to allow non market apps or changed the apn settings they stay. I removed root before the update and I still install apps from amazon.

I was accepted as a beta tester and received the update. I lost my root, but this morning I installed the amazon app store apk and downloaded an app. It does work. So the update didn't change the setting back for installing non-market apps.

I've been lurking around since I got my atrix at the beginning of the month. The update seems to make my touch screen a little smoother. The slide unlock seems to be working better too.

It has been confirmed that if you are rooted and have sideloading enabled before the update, sideloading still works after.

Unfortunately i had to flash the sbf file because i was on gingerbread, so i lost both root and sideloading. If i flash back to the sbf file again, then root, do you think i'd get another update notification?

Essentially i want to use the amazon app store, as it stands i have it installed but i can't install apps from it (due to unknown source complaint)

get your terms right. You can always sideload, rooted or not. It just requires the use of adb. However what you are referring to is the selection of the "all non-market apps" setting.
