Default [Q] NEED HELP: got stuck in apply update bugfix patch 3 for Dexter v1.3 ROM

right now i'm trying update the bugfix patch 3 for Dexter's ROM, but i got problem..

my phone already updated with patch 2, and now I'm trying to update to patch 3..

I follow this instruction based on thread by Mioze7Ae (link--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995989 )

Instructions:

1. Read all the instructions
2, Save stock221v3-bugfix-3.zip to OpenRecovery/updates/stock221v3-bugfix-3.zip
3. Boot to OpenRecovery
4. OR menu > nandroid > backup > system > backup selected
5. OR menu > nandroid > restore > stock221v13 > system > restore selected
6. OR menu > apply update > stock221v3-bugfix-3.zip
7. OR menu > wipe dalvik cache
8. OR menu > reboot system

until step 4, my OpenRecovery Back Up system got stuck in "system: Dumping..." and it has been already last for 30 minutes..

is it normal? should I remove the battery and start it again? is it safe if I remove the battery?

thanks

Yes pull the battery & start again. BTW, if you're already running Dexter's 1.3 w/ bugfix2 I don't think it's necessary to reinstall 1.3, just apply the new update after your backup completes successfully & wipe the dalvik-cache.

You can just start from step 6. It's good practice to make a backup, though.

That list is meant to be a general purpose instructions that should work for everyone. It seems to confuse people when I try to explain shortcuts that could be made. I figure that if people know enough to spot short cuts or alternates, then I didn't need to explain it to them anyway.

Did you select compression when you made the backup? In my experience the compression step takes eons. It first dumps the image and then goes back and compresses it.

I followed the same instruction, but I see a lot of ERROR CODE -1 (E:Missing bitmap XXXX).

For example;

missing bitmap interminate6
missing bitmap progress_bar_empty_left_round
missing bitmap progress_bar_empty
missing bitmap progress_bar_empty_right_round
and so on.

It seems to be just the bitmap pictures file is missing, but why the patch installation is failed??

I already reloaded the stock221v13 one more time, but it does not fix the problem.

Can you please help?

I have the same problem and my solution is that you should wipe cach and wipe data/factory reset before doing backup and download a fresh Open recoveries, then executing the backup

But... if you wipe data/factory reset there's no reason to do a backup.
