Default [GUIDE] Simple ENG S-OFF

Edit: This method will most likely require radio s-off to work. Not as useful as I thought first but still less hassle if you often switch from ruu stock to custom roms.

Hi all.

I recently wanted to go from stock 1.72 to CM7 and didn't want to go through downgrades etc. so I simply took a test PD98IMG.zip and removed everything except the hboot (which is eng s-off) and placed on the SD-card. I then rebooted into bootloader and it flashed the new hboot for me. It was then easy to flash recovery using fastboot.

Since it was so easy and I didn't manage to find this method described I decided to create this thread. Feel free to move/remove if this is old news.

I tested this on my phone several times using the zip below. I do however not guarantee anything.

peace!

Instructions:

1. Download file PD98IMG.zip.
(md5 01f950f719cf12d8c39d62b513203789)

2. Copy to SD-card.

3. Reboot to bootloader ("adb reboot-bootloader" or restart phone with volume down pressed)

4. Follow on-screen instructions

Was your phone radio s-off? If it was not, this is great news, and a big big mistake from HTC But I have to say, it sounds pretty unbelievable that they would sign an engineering hboot..

You're most likely right as my phone was in fact Radio S-OFF already. It still helps when switching from stock ruu to custom roms for us with radio s-off though.

Yep, that's what I thought. With radio s-off + root it is a 10 second deal to make ENG S-OFF with my tool, but this definitely helps people who do not have root.
