Default Update coming?

A guy in my other forum posted this:

Just got off the phone with Viewsonic and other than the person did not know what he was talking about. (If I did not know better, he was trying to convince me that the Gtab was a "toy" and was not meant for any heavy lifting.) I was calling about 801.2x eap wifi access.

Anyway....

This person did inform me that the next OTA update from Viewsonic is 5 days away. Which puts it Sunday or Monday of next week.

Wow. I am waiting in anticipation of what the hell we will actually see from them. I'm sure many people are on the edge of their seats dying to find out if the next OTA uses bootloader 1.2. I guess we will find out Sunday or Monday. Almost makes me want to nvflash back to stock so I can see for myself ;)
Mash the thanks button if I help you, it makes it easier to explain to my wife why I spend so much time on here

I called them earlier today and I was told "April timeframe". I took that as EO April.

5 days away would be SWEET, if it were true. All I know is that a lot of what 3991 has is supposed to be in there - Spanish / French language, lockscreen, Flash built-in. I also heard USB mouse support, which 3991 (and earlier) did not have.

Nice. I'm going to hold off modding my new G-tablet for a little bit. Hopefully the update comes in!

I am in the same boat. However, I am getting frustrated with the stock rom. Maybe I am just ignorant. Cant seem to change wallpapers, get weather to work, and app store is very confusing.

I want to mod mine as soon as I get it, but with this info maybe it is better to wait.

im tempted to go for it and hack it tomorrow and nvflash it back to stock sunday, just to get one under my belt. do you think it would be worth it? will this update affect the roms any? do they have to be updated to use them with a new update?

I will be waiting for now too. This better not be a trick! I don't want to be sitting around with a slow ass GTab on my hands....

If (and I stress "IF") this ROM has the same bootloader as the 3991 UAT, it's going to have major affect on mods. There's still a lot of back and forth here on whether Viewsonic will keep that bootloader or not.

I mentioned this before, but the Notion Ink Adam users had to deal with this problem recently - some soft bricks over there because of it. So we'll have to see what this new firmware is like -- again, IF it shows up in five days.

Seems like to everyone wants to look at own their own booloaders anymore. Too many applications. Devlopers complaining about the piracy. Sigh
