I'm not opposed to bigger icons up there in general, I'm just opposed to it looking half-assed. If the text scaled up slightly, the CM battery icon was similarly sized, and all the alert icons on the left were similarly sized it wouldn't bug me in the least but would improve visibility. That is a win for everybody. Sadly that is also impossible with out code changes to upscale the graphics as they're displayed in the notification area at the ROM level, otherwise you have to override app-specific icons for every app that has an alert which just isn't feasible.
I'm sure it is less noticeable on the Note than it is on my Galaxy Nexus... then again your phone screen size is hardly standard - sure it's running a standard resolution but the shear magnitude of the display tends to give things a different look/feel than a smaller display does, even if the pixel count is the same. In all fairness, my phone display isn't exactly the most common display on the market either. I know it's a difficult decision, mate. And it doesn't have a right or wrong answer to it which blurs the lines further.

okay so i need to start and see if i can resize the clock and battery text to match..
is it safe for me to assume that on your phone my notification icons on the left are actually a bit smaller(like the original signal bars) then a notification icon that I havent themed?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. On the left, I have 2 types of notification icons: ones you have themed (Gmail, etc) and ones you haven't themed (Rift, etc). Currently, both icon types have one thing in common. They all follow the standard icon size guidelines (http://developer.android.com/guide/p...tatus_bar.html). Thus, they are all uniform in size. On the right side, I now have a mix of icons and text, some which conform to the guidelines I linked above, others which do not. Normal applications can't put icons on the right side of the status bar, however, so if you *can* get the whole right side to be uniform, it might work. The left side, however, you can not. If you increase the size of the Gmail notification icon in your theme, it will override the default smaller one, yes. However unless you have a theme override for every single icon that every single app on the market puts up on the left, you will end up with two different sized icon possibilities on the left. Icons you have resided and overridden, and icons that are not altered and display as the application author intended - and those icons are all designed with the above guidelines in mind, so they look natural with other icons placed in the notification area by other application authors.
Based on the way my status bar looks now, I have smaller icons on the left (consistently) and a mix of smaller and large icons and text on the right. If the right icons were all larger with matching text, it would look better, but would still be off-balance with the smaller icons on the left side. If you attempt to enlarge the size of the icons on the left, too, (assuming you fix the right side to be uniform), you will end up with a mix of small and large icons on the left, reintroducing the problem we currently have on the right side. If you are unable to fix the right and still attempt to enlarge some of the icons on the left, both sides will have a mix of icons of varying sizes and I'll print out a copy of the android icon design guidelines and mail them to you :P

haha I did get a laugh out of that...i rarely check my mail..
I am going to have to agree with you though..I was able to adjust the clock and battery to match but no matter what i do i cant force the icons on the left to match..So while the right I can get to match and look good it makes the left even more noticable.
