I flashed clockworkmod 3.0.2.4 and for some reason it doesn't back up my sd-ext partition. It says no sd-ext found and skips it. I'm using FUSIONideos v1.9.6b1 ROM.

Your sd-ext needs to be labeled "sd-ext". If you partitioned with ClockworkMod that should been set.

Reason why? Its because sd-ext can be either be (ext?) ext2, ext3 or ext4.
  • For sd-ext to be mounted, you have to specify a filesystem. Hard decision to make - it'd be unfair if only ext3 was allowed. (ext2 & ext4 users would lose out)
  • Another option is to have it auto detect the filesystem and mount. Problem is, you may have partitioned your sdcard into two (with no intention of having sd-ext) but since its set to auto detect, it will treat any second partition (ext, fat, or whatever) as sd-ext. Not a good move.
  • Or you can set it to mount by partition label. It will only mount the partition labeled "sd-ext", avoiding conflicts with different ext versions. Thats what its currently set on.

HINT: Label it with the e2label command on linux.

It is labelled correctly. I used it with clockworkmod by udk with no issues so I assumed it should work with this version as well. Anyway, I'll try what you've suggested. Thanx for the help.

Tried again, even repartitioned it with this clockworkmod (3.0.2.4) but it still gives me the same errors. Can't format sd-ext from the recovery or restore a backup to it. Its not being recognized at all. Really doesn't make sense especially considering that i used the recovery to partition the sd card.

Will look into it, should be fixed by next release (ROM Manager)

Thanx a lot man. Tried for hours yesterday and nothing I did worked. I formatted, repartitioned and relabelled it with ubuntu, windows amd two other recoveries. Anyway, tried cm6. Its totally awesome! Blazing fast! Great work. One question though, where are most of the system apps stored? I have a lot more free internal memory with it than other roms (about 155mb free). Or was the rest just bloatware?

System apps have been streamlined for the U8150 - you can say they're optimized, thus take up less space.

The CM6 port is compiled from source, while other ROMs just reuse files from stock. They are in reality all similar. So they usually take up the same space.

All system apps are found in '/system/apps'

I installed ROM Mnager, and flashed the clockwork recovery. Rom Manager gave the msg "Clockwork recovery has been successfully flashed".

But now when I try to boot into recovery, the phone gets stuck on boot logo. Ihave to pull the battery out to restart.

Any ideas what I should do?
