[Q] Screen ON, power off while AC charging

When the phone is turned OFF, the screen always turns ON while charging on AC power.

I don't need to see a battery meter on the screen, and I don't need the phone lighting up the whole darn room all night long.

Is there any way to force the screen to stay OFF when the phone is turned OFF and charging via AC power?

Other phones say to "tap" the power button to turn the screen off, but all that does on my Inspire is turn the power on.
