"Forever" is the wrong word here - a better word would be "currently".
The update is only just out, and no one has had time to try to work around this issue yet. I would imagine that some bright spark somewhere will come up with something in due course.

Everything can be "fixed", all it takes is time
Where did you find the MyZine widgets? And any news if they have fixed the FB app?
Just downloaded this and noticed a couple of things:
I now have the Layar app installed - not sure why, I thought this was available from the market anyhow. Do other people have this?
I installed the My Cloud software on my PC and it shows up like a network drive and you can drag and drop files to it, but it is very slow (I presume that's to do with my rubbish upload speeds). I dragged over a 12MB video to it and it took ages to copy across. When I went to the mycloud app on the tablet and to the My Collection folder, I could see the video, but you cannot play it directly from there, instead you have to download it. That's a bit of a shame as I thought you could actually stream your videos direct from their servers. Has anyone tried it with music? Does it stream from their server (I can't do it right now as I'm at work and can't install anything on the computer)?

Press and hold on home screen. Widgets are there, just like any other widget. In the system folder is an apk called MyGaZine.apk which I guess is why there are problems, as it's not the same name.
What is wrong with your facebook app? It's worked fine for me since launch.

The Facebook widget is the problem - if you put the widget on the a homescreen, the app will always force close. If you delete the widget, the app works ok.

Ah ok cheers. I've not used the widget.

Yeah layar seems to be 'new' on the device, as I hadn't downloaded it from the market. The streaming seems to work the way you describe, it starts playing when it has enough of the file to let it play it, and continues to download the whole file to your device. It feels like it uses the internet, rather than lan, to deal with the files which is a bit strange so yes it's perhaps limited by your connection speed.

Thanks for that, I will have to try it. The problem that I was having was that some of my contacts are linked to FB profiles and get their images from there. But since the FB widget and app didn't work (FC all the time), my contacts were faceless

You can always add pictures to your google contacts list and just sync that way. You just have to merge them with the facebook app.

Since doing the update, I've noticed my sound is either on or off when playing audio or video - the screen slider shows the volume is changing but it does not actually vary the volume.
This might have been an existing problem but nobody else has mentioned it. The only references I can find are to one speaker being louder/quiter than the other.

Anybody else have this problem?
Turn off and back on again, this will sort the problem out.

Layar *was* seriously messed up, it showed the camera feed at a 90-degree-rotation from however you were holding the device.
So maybe they're including it as a 'look at us, we fixed it!' declaration
Glad they've fixed the compass, I was worried I had broken hardware.
Not keen on making my unit un-flashable though so I'll have to wait a bit to try it.
Again, pleased with Asus for continuing to make steady progress!
(not pleased about the closed bootloader but that's a bigger argument...)
