Clearly it will be available, the slip up from Newegg is a good indication that indeed these retailers are going to be selling the product. They might not have pre-orders going up because they don't have their stock yet which seems logical.

I know it's exciting. I'm here watching and waiting to buy one. I just think it's a little out of control. Asus has done nothing wrong. They aren't marketing it wrong. Nothing has happened yet the product hasn't even been released.

There are few people saying asus did something wrong, and those few people i would say are wrong. But since you felt the need to bring it up, i was wondering where you got the information that any best buy store would be selling this? I've not seen anything other than statements that bestbuy.com would have it, and if that's the case, then yes, a preorder would be nice so that i can actually have it on the date is is launched.

...or more likely, Asus simply isn't *allowing* pre-orders. Look at the listing in Synnex:

...and note that both SKUs for 16GB and 32GB variants state "vendor authorization" under Availability.

Synnex, for anybody who doesn't know of them, are a distributor like the more commonly known Ingram Micro and Tech Data. Asus ships product to the distributor, the distributor ships it to retailers like NewEgg and Best Buy. (No idea if Asus uses other distributors too, nor if NewEgg or Best Buy deal with Synnex specifically, but you get the gist.)

If Synnex has it listed as "vendor authorization", that means none of the retailers buying through Synnex can sell the device without authorization from Asus even if stock is available to do so (which this close to delivery, there's a fair chance it is already available in at least some warehouses). I would imagine if there are any other distributors, they likely have the same delay in place.

Asus have for whatever reason (building hype, ensuring their support system is in place, or something else) decided not to allow deliveries before Tuesday. I'd also guess from the lack of preorder pages on bigger sites like Amazon that Asus have chosen not to allow preorders, for some reason.

NewEgg screwed up and let a few orders slip in, and would appear to have delayed shipment of those orders upon realizing their mistake. Other than the NewEgg screwup, it would seem that the launch is going pretty much to plan.

Best buy doesnt know their heads from their asses, why would anyone ask them anything at all? I've learned everything I need to know quite easily without ever talking to best buy..... including if they have any.

I was not claiming that information. However, the past couple pages have just been a bunch of posts with people saying they checked with their local BB and....

No one has ever indicated that Best Buy stores will be selling them (just listed as BestBuy.com on the press release).

I think we are in agreement here and SlimDan has some good wisdom.

Maybe this is all a stunt by Asus to generate a lot of hype and interest. I hope so otherwise these retailers really dropped the ball and underestimated the demand.

Intrest with who? People on these forums that already knew about it? A tablet that makes best buy $20 isnt at the top of their list of importance.

Doubt it. The product hasn't been released. No one has done anything wrong. Asus has probably not allowed pre-orders to ensure they don't over promise under deliver on demand. The retailers aren't going to be allowed to sell anything until release and we are acting like we deserve to be able to pre-order or get it before the 26th.

Come Tuesday we can all just order our tablets and be happy.

I dont expect it early, i would like it on the release date. That's all I'm saying.
