Default Best Buy

I was in a local BB on Friday and was talking to one employee who did not know what I was talking about. He then asked his manager in the computer section. He was helpful. I asked when they would get the transformer in and he said we cant get it fast enough. He said they are redesigning the computer area to include an entire area for tablets. He said he was having a training on Sat for all of the new tablets coming in the the next few weeks. He also said they had just received the Acer one that night and did not see the Asus one. He was hoping it would show up over the weekend or by Monday.

On a side note they had 9 wifi zooms available.

I think there is a reason behind the lack of pre-order options and that might be due to a limited stock. How embarrassing would it be for the pre-orders to sell out immediately?

At least by not offering pre-orders they can try and make the short supply seem like a popular sellout of their product.

Yeah, almost all the Best Buys I've talked to are going on about a new tablet section.

This leads me to believe that despite the number of retailers listed, not all of them are going to have them for launch day.

Personally I'm counting on Amazon as they are a huge and reliable company and Best Buy for obvious reasons. I highly doubt even Target will have it for launch date let alone Office Depot, JR, or Tigerdirect.

I really hope I am wrong though. I would like to be able to walk down to any of the local retailers and know that one will be available.
Because retail stores are going to train their associates about eee pads over the other 1000 products they sell....... god you guys expect WAY too much from retail.

One of my Bestbuys has this. It's not that big of a deal. They have just converted some of the space used to for you t ohandle some of the dummy mobile phones and placed their tablets there.

They have moved them all to the mobile section regardless if they have a 3g card or not.

I know microsoft used to have an online program that would train you in their products. The more tutorials you took the more free microsoft gear you could get for free.

That has nothing to do with Asus doing a preorder. That's companies taking orders for a product they ran out of. Unless the store is the Asus store and you're preordering it from that Asus store then it isn't Asus's issue. You think Manufacturers can push their retailers around and tell them how to handle a preorder.

When you pre order from the Apple store that's Apple doing the pre order when you pre order from Best Buy that's Best Buy doing the pre order not the company that makes the product they are pre ordering.

I keep hoping that the email notifications of updates to this thread will bring new news or developments about actual US availability (for Updates on Preorders and Purchasing), as the title of this thread infers.

Regrettably, there have been very few recently that have been helpful to me in that regard, but I'll keep listening and reading. Hope springs eternal.

DONATE TO ME
I cancelled my newegg order since it sat in "Charged" all this time.

The earliest it could arrive is tuesday, and since I'd miss the delivery that means I'd get it wednesday. Or I could just cancel the order and go buy it tuesday.
