Default How to Root G2X

I am coming from Dell Streak, I hope someone would post step by step instructions on how to root this wonderful device. Maybe the nods would provide a "How to" section keep this forum neat so that people would know where to go when they need something. Like how to root, how to do nandroid backup, how to flash a Rom etc.

I'm sure guides will come, but for now, the only one is how to root the device. Look in the development section. It's like 4 steps.

Seen that already bro, thanks for the reply, gave you the thanks button! Still waiting for the unlock code from cellunlocker, unfortunately, 3g/4g does not seem to work on this device as reported by fellow at&t subscribers and news also came out that at&t launched an update for my former device. Sigh... Hope someone will be able to crack the code so we (at&t subs) could get 3g/4g on this awesome piece of device.

Ok. I'm completely confused about this whole rooting thing. I've done a search and either I'm not seeing it or just confused. LOL but what is rooting and what are the advantage and disadvantage of rooting your phone.

Rooting
Obtaining root ("administrator", or "full") access to the device. This means you can mount its internal memory partition as read/write, which lets you do various things: have USB or Wi-Fi tethering, uninstall applications you otherwise can't uninstall (e.g. the Amazon MP3 store), install applications that need root access (such as AdFree), disable the camera shutter sound (simply by deleting the shutter sound file), overclock or underclock the CPU, install and boot Debian, and so on.

With the ability to root and unroot these days, I don't know why anyone wouldn't root even just to get rid of the bloatware from t-mobile.
XDA is already at max capacity for snobs, elitists, and know-it-alls; don't become one. Always remember to be respectful, you had to start at the bottom too.

{Insert useless & gigantic list here for e-peen points}

The only think I'm worried about is I am worried about messing it up and bricking my phone and on top of that it voids your warrenty on the phone.

there is an unroot button. if this bricks your phone, you'll be the first out of thousands. if you're that scared, don't do it though. enjoy your tmobile bloat.
