Default [Q] A few Micro SD questions

Long time lurker looking forward to (when available) getting a Transformer

Could any users advise whether it is worth getting a class 6 or 10 micro SD card, or would class 2 be fast enough?

I'm looking to primarily using it to store music and video so would there be any problems with playback using slower cards?

Also any recommendations for cards welcomed too. Thanks

I've got this Sandisk 16GB one and it works perfectly, it's only a class 4 but works perfectly and is fast enough. The picture is wrong on the listing though, it shows a class 2 but the product is a class 4!

DONATE TO ME
The class rating is basically the write speed the card is capable of so obviously the higher speed the better. Any class card will suit your purpose though, as the read speeds are always pretty fast. If I was buying one I'd probably get a class 10 though as the prices are almost the same as class 2 ones. This one looks decent PNY 16GB Micro SD Memory Card / Class 10 from play.com

It's not just write speeds. Read speeds vary wildly too, and they're not generally marked anywhere. For the best read speeds, you either want to research individual card models (and stay with name brands, because off-brands -- even relatively well-known ones -- frequently vary wildly from card to card of the same model, because they use whatever controller etc. is cheapest on the day), or you want to go for cards with high write speeds (which are generally faster for reads too).

Either way, go major name brand if you want speed. And buy from somewhere well-trusted -- Amazon direct (not a third party selling through Amazon), a major retail chain, etc. Flash cards are one of the most common counterfeit products around, because they're tiny, a standard size / shape, and extremely easy to smuggle.
