Default Galaxy S II UK - NOT NFC Enabled

Hello

Just to confirm once and for all I think this issue needs its thread because this phone IS being advertised as NFC enabled in the UK. However people are getting non nfc enabled models in the UK taking delivery today.

I will confirm in a few hours if my model is NFC enabled. Can you please post here to confirm your model is or isnt NFC enabled and where you bought it from?

Thanks.

I lived in south korea and our localise(korea) galaxy s2 support nfc.

But our carrier said that

"If u use a nfc function you will purchase nfc support usim. Normal usim cant use nfc function"

Please refer it.

They are saying in the future the NFC antenna will be in your sim card and there will be software in the phone that can link to that, so dont be too disheartened, you may get it after all, but just not how you expected

Default NFC WTF?!

Okkk regarding NFC;

The reason why i wanted this phone over any other dual core phone released or about to be released is because of it's NFC capabilities.

Following TechRadar's comments about the NFC being disabled or not present i dug a little deeper.

Phones4u have now removed this feature from their product spec. One of their agents said it wasn't in the briefing they've had about this phone!

After trying to call Samsumg to confirm this for the whole morning (Phone system down!) They have confirmed the UK model GT i9100 doesn't have NFC capabilities - however the girl on the phone I spoke to had absolutely noooo idea what I was talking about. she couldn't confirm any other model numbers in the SGS2 range.

WTF is going on?! for months everyone has been going on about NFC and all that pazaz, however it looks like they have failed to deliver!

I will not upgrade from my HTC Desire until there's a decent phone on the market that spouts NFC capability!

Sort it out Samsung, you nearly had my £500!!

Unhappy Okay, Okay...

At least there's hope for USIM w/ NFC, but NOT at the moment--other Asian countries apart from South Korea better get NFC support, regardless.
This feature must be disabled by default. Hopefully, an option to enable NFC will come out soon.
Current Devices:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (T-Mobile, SGH-T889) - Stock
Samsung Blackjack (AT&T, SGH-i607)

Past Devices:
Motorola V710 (Verizon)
Samsung Galaxy S (International, I9000) - Stock
Samsung Galaxy S2 (International, I9100) - Stock
Samsung Galaxy Note (International, N7000) - Stock
Samsung Galaxy S3 (Skipped)

Default NFC WTF?

To be honest, I'm not convinced until someone can 100% assure me that this model of phone has an NFC chip in it.

I'm not willing to invest my money into something that could be out of date within a few months when HTC adds this to their windows phones and Apple follows suit with their new iphone.

I've looked into USIM w/NFC and there isn't much out there on it for the moment, this feature should be hardwired into the phone like on the Nexus S.

If you look at the system dump of the device posted sometime back, there is a nfc.apk within the device. I dont know whats it used for but perhaps you can explore around.

looks like the dreams of the prefect phone are shattered!

I dont need NFC now, but I would like the tech to be there, for future proofing.

I will be grilling phones 4 u in attemps to get more money off.

I looked at the system dump but couldn't find the nfc.apk? (unless i'm being blind!) Even if i could find it maybe it's just part of the OS and not necessarily to do with the hardware...
