Turn off any firewall you may have enabled (or allow an exception for Talk). I had similar results until I (re-)enabled the Talk exception in DroidWall.

Does this apk only for Android 2.3 and above? Does Gtalk limited to certain countries?

Galaxy S i9000, android 2.2 I9000DXJPB.
You are correct, and per the OP this application is for 2.3 and above. As for country restrictions, to the best of my knowledge there aren't any.

Thanks, it's working now! Although I'm at home now. Any chance that it's caused by my work blocking that port or something?...

The official update Google is now pushing OTA seems to fail if this new Talk2.apk is already in place.

Code:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Talk.apk", "53dad6e7e2781E:unknown command [e1132ba110311031d4cc34275cc",]

(Status 7)

Installation aborted.
I assume this is because it finds the wrong Talk.apk, or no Talk.apk at all. Can anyone direct me how to get the previous Talk from 2.3.3 back? Unfortunately I lost my backup of Talk.apk.

Can someone please post the original and any lib file that is needed to go back too.

lmao.. I just tried in landscape mode!

Now I can see video on my Inspire 4G but I cannot see video on my PC ... Maybe because I don't have ffc... but even if I turn my phone around, I cannot see the video on PC.

Voice still works...

Edit-- now it doesn't . Oh well it works sometimes now

Ok, so I've downloaded the talkwithav.zip and installed it on my and girls mytouch via root explorer by coppying the talk apk to system/app and the lib to system/lib.

I see the camcorder icon beside my name on my phone and the same camcorder icon besides my girls name on her phone.
We can chat regularly like usual, but how the hell do we make voice or video calls to each other?

When I click on het name and go to settings/more I see a selection for voice chat but it doesn't let me select it. I don't see an option for video calls anywhere.
