I wouldn't say it would last forever but the G2/Desire Z will be here for a while.

Default Will last as long as t-mobile has 4g

As soon as AT&T (or like 6-12month later) buys t-mobile, the life of G2 will be limitted. I know that 2g speed just won't do it for me.

I guess I wish that frequencies that the phone used were not in the hardware but in the software.

They probably will considering that at&t doesn't have anything in place for hspa+ and all at&t is doing is focusing on rolling out lte.

On the other hand, the second a dual core phone with a physical keyboard comes out, the g2 loses its place in my heart Preferably htc but the way they keep trying to lock down their bootloader is a complete turn-off and may be a deciding factor for me in the future if they keep it up lol

I am actually about to buy a G2 in the next week or so. I really love the keyboard (after the iPhone, I realized I really need a keyboard). I currently have a Cliq, so it will be a big step up for me.

I am slightly worried about losing T-Mo 3/4G once the Evil Empire buys them up. I have an awesome plan ($70/month (includes taxes/fees) for 400 min, unlimited text/data ) that they no longer give to new customers. Their new plans are ****e imho. I don't know how much longer after they buy T-Mo they will let me keep my plan. I already left AT&T once cause of their ridiculously high prices.

Anyway, I don't need the G2 to last forever, just for another year until I decide to get a new phone (the one with dual cores, 3D, and ion laser cannons). The last phone I had for more than a year was the original iPhone (3 yrs). My last two phones I only had for less than 6 months each (N900 and Cliq).

Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-T879
ROM: CM10 Nightlies http://goo.gl/JU6Iz
Recovery: TWRP 2.x

Kindle Fire
ROM: Back to Stock
Recovery: TWRP 2.2.x

Samsung A900 --> Original iPhone --> Nokia N900 --> Moto Cliq --> HTC G2 --> Samsung Galaxy S II --> Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-T879 --> (Hopefully Galaxy Note II)
