Question [Q] Will XDD Root lose last minute XDA tweaks

Hi all,

I have a quick question relating to the 'Root thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1056334&page=1' by Chainfire.

Maybe a stupid one but would be great if someone could clarify.

I am expecting my SGSII to arrive in the next few days, and will be following this great guide from Chainfire. However, as far as I can see the UK retail versions are kernel KDA, but the root is on the KDD kernel.

Hence, I presume if I flash the 'XWKDD_insecure.tar' then effectively this wipes the KDA stuff. Does this mean I will lose some of the last minute tweaks done by Samsung(e.g. is KDA newer than KDD?) or is KDD a newer kernel version?

If anyone could put me right here that would be good. But regardless thanks to the good work from Chainfire and Co.

If you're talking about firmware then it's KDA and KDD (or XWKDA and XWKDD) not XDA and XDD.

Yep. That's what I meant. Confused myself with the name of this site!

First 2 letters are the region and carrier.

Third letter is the year, fourth letter is the month, fifth letter is the version of that month.

I may have it wrong, but that's the way I always read it.

Example:

UCJF6 of the captivate was the original firmware, from July 2010.

J is the tenth letter, hence 2010.
F is the sixth letter, hence the sixth month.
6 means the sixth revision in that month.

They then released JH7, from September 2010.

J is 2010, H is September (8th month), 7 was the revision.

Iphone 3G > T-Mobile G1 > Samsung Captivate > Samsung Focus > Samsung Galaxy SII> Nokia Lumia 920 > HTC 8X > Sony Xperia ZL
...and a bunch of other phones in between
