I know my IMEI. The value that comes up when I type *#06# is the same as that underneath the battery in the phone.

I've requested (via TM CS) my phone be unlocked three times and every time I get an email back stating that my IMEI is unknown so no code is available.

I've tried the online guys who offer an unlock for a fee service and they've had to refund me since they can't figure it out either.

I bought the phone from TM and they activated it which presumably would require something somewhere to recognize the IMEI?

TM's response is always that they need to ask LG for the unlock code and LG can't find it. I called LG and they said that's nonsense and that TM have the codes.

Soooooo frustrating. The phone was made not born there has to be some way of hashing a poxy code given the IMEI.

Any advice would be really appreciated! I'm in Pasadena CA if anyone knows a reliable unlocker in the area.

PM me. I have an alternate unlock code supplier that has picked up every unknown IMEI I have dealt with so far. The cost for this server is $7.49. If the code is not found you get a full refund. If the code is found you are a happy camper. You cannot use our regular server if it is an unknown IMEI. Only the alternate server can pick it up. There is a big batch of G2X for some reason that the normal databases don't have unlock codes for. By any chance is your IMEI's 9th digit a "5" or a "4". Those are the problematic IMEIs.
Want to sim unlock your LG phone: PM me for more info.
Instructions on how to enter unlock code can be found here. http://bit.ly/wyYl5z

If you appreciate my work please buy me some coffee.

I already have the unlock code email from T-Mobile and was waiting until I needed to use a different SIM (e.g. on travel), but I figured I'd try the method posted here now just for grins.

Since the messages (after I clicked "unlock") flashed by so quickly, I could not read them completely. I *believe* the first one said it was requesting the unlock from the network, and the next one said, "Network unlock successful" (or similar). However, I only saw this out of the corner of my eye, and for all I know that last word could have been "unsuccessful". It then returned to the dial-pad for a second, then rebooted.

Just for "good measure", I figured I'd try it again and make sure I read the message, now knowing where on the screen to look. This time I am pretty sure it said "Network unlock unsuccessful" (even though it still went by pretty quickly), especially since the last word was now wrapped to a new line (which tells me that the message was almost certainly different from before).

As an aside, now I am noticing something I did not before, but this does not mean that it never happened - I might just be paying more attention now: For a couple of seconds, I see "Emergency Only" in the upper right of the lockscreen just after the phone boots up, which then turns into "T-Mobile".

So:

1) Can someone who has *not* unlocked their phone verify that they also see the "Emergency Only" momentarily after boot? I just want to make sure that is normal. I have the stock ROM, BTW, for now, even though I am rooted.

2) Is it normal for unlocking a second time to be reported as unsuccessful (and does this just do nothing)? Has anyone here (other than I) tried this? I have not tried another carrier SIM yet...

Thanks!
My phone did the same exact thing! I'm not sure if it's unlocked though

Did yours unlock even after saying Network Unlock Unsuccessful and Rebooted? Thanks!

P.S. I got the unlock code from unlockthatphone.com for $15. Took 12 hours to get it.
I paid 2.99 for my unlock code, got it withing 4 hrs, unlocked the phone purely on wi-fi, not even a phone data or wi-fi calling connection, and it was successful.

If I get an unlock code for a certain IMEI for a G2x, can I use that code for a different G2x?

Lol are you serious? It's like you asking to use your pin for your credit card on someone else's card and it'll work.

The IMEI is unique to every device and the unlock code is based off that IMEI. So no, it won't work, you'll need another unlock code.

worked great. Just called Tmobile, got the email the next morning (today) and restored to stock 2.3.4 via http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1048274. Then entered the code and it's unlocked. thanks!

Remember to Nandroid your current ROM and then restore stock, then restore your favorite ROM afterwards.
N4 / g2x / Nexus 7 / Hx: Nexus S, Wildfire S, HD2, Behold 2, HTC Wizard 8125 then these:
