I already have the unlock code email from T-Mobile and was waiting until I needed to use a different SIM (e.g. on travel), but I figured I'd try the method posted here now just for grins.
Since the messages (after I clicked "unlock") flashed by so quickly, I could not read them completely. I *believe* the first one said it was requesting the unlock from the network, and the next one said, "Network unlock successful" (or similar). However, I only saw this out of the corner of my eye, and for all I know that last word could have been "unsuccessful". It then returned to the dial-pad for a second, then rebooted.
Just for "good measure", I figured I'd try it again and make sure I read the message, now knowing where on the screen to look. This time I am pretty sure it said "Network unlock unsuccessful" (even though it still went by pretty quickly), especially since the last word was now wrapped to a new line (which tells me that the message was almost certainly different from before).
As an aside, now I am noticing something I did not before, but this does not mean that it never happened - I might just be paying more attention now: For a couple of seconds, I see "Emergency Only" in the upper right of the lockscreen just after the phone boots up, which then turns into "T-Mobile".
So:
1) Can someone who has *not* unlocked their phone verify that they also see the "Emergency Only" momentarily after boot? I just want to make sure that is normal. I have the stock ROM, BTW, for now, even though I am rooted.
2) Is it normal for unlocking a second time to be reported as unsuccessful (and does this just do nothing)? Has anyone here (other than I) tried this? I have not tried another carrier SIM yet...
Thanks!

My phone did the same exact thing! I'm not sure if it's unlocked though
Did yours unlock even after saying Network Unlock Unsuccessful and Rebooted? Thanks!
