Good intentions OP but it's like the blind leading the blind here. Half of ur post is completely unnecessary to achieve your end goal & the rest can be done on any custom ROM, most without a dial code or tricks. IF u even want to lock to WCDMA only, the only difference beween the two is with it locked to "only", you'll have no signal when ur out of WCDMA territory. I hate to be negative & really do appreciate the initiative but some ppl are getting kinda misinformed here. Even tho HenryBravo & a few others have tried to steer ppl the right direction but OP keeps arguing with ppl who know

Of course not. if you have a GSM phone it won´t work on CDMA networks.

WCDMA and CDMA are not the same.

WCDMA is the 3G connection for GSM networks.

CDMA is CDMA network.

I think this trick do not speed up your connection. Because Setting your phone up to WCDMA "only" or "prefered" will only give preferred or exclusive access to 3G/HSDPA/HSPA networks.

your speed depends on network type (EDGE, 3G, HSDPA, HSPA, LTE, etc), network trafic congestion, etc.

As you can see in my signature I got 6.67Mbps that time, I usually got between 2-4Mb. but in some other towns I got very low speed on the same type of network (3G) or even on higher speed network sucks a HSDPA.
