Post [Q] What are the real advantages of updating to 1.2 rooted from 1.1 rooted?

So I'm pretty happy with my NC with 1.1 rooted. It seems like there are still some issues with 1.2 rooted, particularly with the marketplace. I know 1.2 enables the B&N Marketplace, but I don't need that since I have the Android Market installed. Also, 1.2 has Flash, but I honestly don't use flash all that much. In that case, what other advantages does 1.2 offer? Is it faster/more stable? Is the interface better?

Also, has anyone gotten 1.2 to be able to detect ad-hoc wifi networks? For me, being able to use my mobile phone hotspot is a must-have.

Thanks

1.2 is faster thanks to the JIT compiler of Froyo
You get flash, which for me is one of the top reasons to go android over ipad!!!!
Adhoc works for me
Right now only thing not working well on nootered NC ids market is working funky

I'm in the same boat. I'm on 1.1 nootered, and I actually like it fine. I don't see the real need to update to 1.2. Flash would be a plus, but I just keep an image of Froyo on another uSD card for when I need flash. I like 2.1 because the battery life is awesome, and I remember that moving to Android 2.2 from 2.1 reduced my phone's battery life a bit. For a device that I'd like to have last as long as possible, any hit to battery life for minor upgrades is not acceptable.

Has anyone done testing to see if NC 1.2 reduced battery life any appreciable amount?

Other than Flash, the way it stands right now, I don't see a whole lot of reasons to go 1.2. If you're getting by without flash right now, you obviously must not need it all that bad, so if I were you I would not use that in my determination to move to 1.2.
I recently went to rooted 1.2 from rooted 1.01 and I'm not all that happy about it. My video playback has suffered...not only do the videos not work as well, I'd say the quality of those videos actually looks worse too. Not sure why/how, but it does. I enjoyed putting a movie on my Nook when I was traveling or just tinkering with it. As mentioned above, the Market is very funky right now....pretty annoying. Apps like Redbox aren't functioning properly for me either. On rooted 1.01, it picked up my location based on WiFi....for some reason, that's not working on rooted 1.2. I'm sure it'll all get ironed out, but as of right now, I wish I had stayed on where I was.

I would go to CM7 except for my kid loves the read to me books which I can't use on CM7.

The best advantage of updating to 1.2 is the ability to post questions in the "questions and answers" thread instead of development area.

cm7 > stock

Movie watching while traveling, along with reading Nook books, are the main uses my NC sees. I guess I'll stick to 1.1 since it seems 1.2 doesn't really add anything for me.

I read books just fine using CM7...

Look into dual booting, that might provide the best of both worlds

CM7 is slow as molasses re. Market downloads, force closes etc for me running on my current uSD card. I have a Transcend Class 6 on order so hopefully it will work better. Staying with stock 1.1 right now - have flash on my phone when I need it and the 1.2 Froyo Market issues haven't been ironed out yet.

If it's no better with your new card (hopefully it is), running cm7 off emmc is pretty dang fast in my opinion. My NC is about as fast as my stock Fascinate was before i OC'd that.
