Me as well, but I am interrupted on all sites that do not allow re-establishing at interrupt position. So I need to stick to CHeckFus at the moment to download.

But, I do not have this problem when downloading via landline from my company, only when downloading via 3G (as I do at home), independent of provider.

I think it's a mistake. The I9100XWLPG/I9100NEELP4/I9100XXLPX/I9100XWLPG was released 30.05.2012. Using small font or different font you might have a problem to see the diff between letter G and Q at first sight.

Hi all,
I am a newbie in here. I would like to get some info from you guys regarding ROOTING and FLASHING. I have never done both these procedures till now on my SGS2, afraid about the warranty issue and also read about the chances of bricking it too.
I am using an unlocked O2 firmware. it says;
-PDA- I9100XWLP3
-PHONE- I9100XXLPR(this showed 'unknown' when I CHECKED YESTERDAY. random error??)
-CSC- I91OOO2ULP4
-BUILD INFO- FRI MAR 23 2012

but now I am thinking about experimenting with FLASHING, especially after the last KIES ICS update, which has screwed my battery somewhat. I would like to flash the latest and best ICS update so far, but at the same time want to keep alive, the chance of validating my warranty again, if its needed, in the future.
plz tell me the difference between OFFICIAL firmware and STOCK firmware and CARRIER BRANDED firmware.
can i download any firmware from SAMFIRMWARE and FLASH via Odin and be able to get back the warranty anytime later by reflashing the O2 firmware currently installed or any other O2 firmware for my CSC code??
once ROOTING is done, is it possible to revert back to the current state without a trace?
thank you. appreciate your advise. cheers.

first of all you should know how to enter recovery mode and download mode.

always first switch off and follow below :
enter recovery with the key combination of Vol Up + Home + Power
enter download with the key combination of Vol Down + Home + Power

for rooting, before entering recovery or download mode, download latest touch CWM from clockworkmode for your phone .i.e. SGS2 and save it on ur sdcard / external storage. also download some kernal like siyah, NEAK, etc. i use siyah

now when u enter recovery, select update from zip and select the downloaded CWM zip file. now u will be in cwm mode and select install zip from sdcard and select downloaded kernal. once done your phone is rooted now.

i personally dont trust samfirmware and blindly trust Intratech. else you can also try some other rom this forum.

if you flash any rom via recovery or flash intratech rom via odin, nothing will happen to your warranty.

- Difference between official and stock: none. Stock is what comes from the factory, and as a result is always official. What people often mean by 'official' is the actual firmware, and not a modified ROM. Carrier Branded is firmware that comes specifically from your carrier (in your case: O2). The only difference between Carrier Branded and Unbranded is that the first one comes with bloatware (like carrier wallpapers, carrier apps, and all kinds of nonsense you probably don't need). If you flash something new, I recommend Unbranded, as it saves you space and hassle of deleting the bloatware apps.

- Yes, you can always revert back to what you had. Once you want to revert, just download the exact same firmware as you now have on your phone and flash that through Odin. If you only flash the firmware (without the insecure kernel -like CF-Root- required to root a device) and wipe, your device will lose root and be 'normal' again.

- CSC codes are not carrier bound, by the way. From what you're saying, I get that you think you need to flash an O2 firmware to get the right CSC. This may not be the case. Also, I've never had any warranty issues with handing my phone in with (for instance) a Korean CSC on it. But that probably varies per country or per store (they're not that difficult over here )

If this is all new to you, I recommend you check out the Mobile Odin Pro app by ChainFire in the Google Play Store. It costs only a couple of bucks, and it will be the best money you'll ever spend on an app. I bought the app shortly after getting my phone, and flashing/rooting was never easier. If you're worried about flashing, or doing something wrong while flashing: go get that app. It will do everything for you.

Latest firmware is Nordic LPG (unbranded). Works splendidly on my phone. You can get it from Intratech (this thread), the other official thread, or by downloading CheckFus, which will download the firmware in high speed from Samsung's own servers. Good luck!

thank you for the explanation,
-so basically official=stock=unbranded firmware?? all are the same for a particular firmware?
-just flashing a firmware(without rooting) other than the one meant for my device CSC, could possibly null the warranty?(depending on the service centre, as you said). if at all so, reflashing via Odin, my current O2 firmware, reverts to warranty active again, rite.
-my S2 is unlocked, so does it actually void warranty too?
-checked out the app Mobile Odin Pro. ROOT is required for that?? what did you mean by 'it will do everything for you'. is it more safer and different procedure than via flashing through PC Odin?? also checked out the mobile Checkfus app. is it good too.
-Nordic LPG 'UNBRANDED' means that its the official or stock one rite. all the three links you mentioned for download are exactly the same?
-checked out ur link to 'Checkfus' now. have to download an app from inside that link to download the needed software? few versions are given. pro--lite--ver 2.1 GUI--VER 0.5 NON GUI. which one among those?
cheers

Official is whatever comes from Samsung, not by someone which took that as a base and changed things like included apps, kernels, etc.
It can be either branded or unbranded. ROMs branded to O2, for instance, are also officially distributed by Samsung's servers. Just use CheckFUSDowloader and you can see it.

Provided you don't brick your phone (e.g. by using repartition in Odin and something going wrong in between - NEVER use it), as long as you can start the device in download mode you'll always be able to flash through Odin an official version you want, e.g. the one expected by your provider.

If you mean SIM-unlocked, I don't think this has anything to do with warranty. Either officially or through the available apps, if you entered another network's sim card and inserted the code, it's now unlocked to any network but should be in warranty. Of course you can re-lock it to the network with whatever code you want, including the original one (I don't know the dial sequence for that, but just search the forum).

Both Odin and MobileOdin are safe, but MobileOdin is more convenient if you already have root, since it will allow you to flash a new ROM and automatically be rooted, or to combine a ROM with an alternate modem, CSC or kernel, etc.

The best way to download ROMs is CheckFUSDownloader, go get it
Version 2.1 GUI. Lite version is sufficient, Pro adds automatic check for updates which you probably don't need. But you should consider donating to support the developer.
