Lightbulb Recomandation/advice xPlay : No Bootloader unlocking to be able to install ICS safely

Gingerbreak seems to be the only solution to be able to enjoy the Root without unlocking bootloader and modifying the phone. I know for sure that people who used the unlock are now unable to install the update from Sony Ericcson and will risk a brick of their Play if they do.

With ICS coming and announced i strongly advice people to keep their bootloader locked

No rooting wont brick it even when an update comes. What does brick it is the removal of some apps after rooting.

Can some tell me if I am correct? I'm 95% sure that is the case.

I also think you can unroot if you want.
