I have the tint too, and if you look in the lower right corner you can see a ring as well. This is a Finland-bought XWKE2/XXKDJ/XXKE2.

Don't know what settings are good for girlfriend's Nikon DX40, so that's about as good a picture as I'll get.

I am really puzzled why everybody is so upset about this yellowish tint you only see with certain colors under certain lighting conditions and no one complains about the heavy banding on gradients so obvious in many games/wallpapers etc.

Your'e puzzled because you don't understand it.

A major major selling point of this phone is the screen.

It's the ONLY way you interface with the device.

Screens have been fine for years.

Gradients can/may be a software issue.

This is a hardware issue.

It's also NOT "certain colors and conditions." There is a noticeable brightness difference in all usage scenarios of the "top of the line phone" with a "top of the line" screen.

It's a defect, and obviously a noticeable one.

Good for you.

I prefer my expensive devices to be made well.

I'm not samsung shareholder, I don't need to defend them.

Thats WAY worse than mine. Its very strange that all of the devices seem to have it - but some are far more obvious than others.

I'd say you're going to spend a lot of your life disappointed.

I've owned numerous "smartphones" all costing plenty of money and as far as issues go in any of them this is so minor it's embarrassing. Pretty much every lcd/led screen I've ever seen has some display flaws somewhere, never mind one that is super bright and is running on milliamps.

Just ignore. I'm one of the first to make a thread on this however after replacement I'm enjoying the phone. Can't see it at all. No vertical lines just a little dark on the left IF you look really really carefully. Moaners get a refund and go buy a new phone or get it changed/replaced like me. Warranty ain't there for nothing.

The first image is a original screenshot made inside of the phone.
The second one is the interesting one. I took that shot by displaying the original image on my pretty decent IPS monitor and later on I took that picture in the dark.

Congratulations! As you see, now you may consider my monitor as being crap because there is a lot of yellowish, tint spots, vertical lines and so on.

Bottom line: My SAMOLED Plus display looks great and it is much better than my IPS monitor, although they both looks weird on the night pictures, in real life they produce great quality and I can't see any defects unless I over-exaggerate my imagination and start seeing things that are not being there.

It's lucky for You to have one where you don't notice the gradient. I had the opportunity to place my S2 next to my girlfriends and the screen on mine is noticeably less light than hers. I think it's unacceptable that a lot of buyers might get second grade screens while others are lucky to get ones that only have slight gradients.. And I think it's perfectly fine to be nitpicking when the screen is one of the S2's strongest sellingpoints.

My old HTC legend had a lot better light distribution on the screen.

I'm gonna drop by the seller to get another unit as soon as they are back in stock.

Appart from the screen the S2 is truly stunning which makes it even more sad to see a flaw every time I look at it.
