Default [Q] Removing apps from ROM on Gene's Aria Liberated 2.2.2.

Is it sufficient to remove the .apk and .odex files from "/system/apps" or do I have to also remove entries from a package list somewhere else?

I'd like to remove some apps from Gene's Liberated 2.2.2 ROM before flashing. Some of the apps like Facebook, Twitter, Acrobat, Maps, etc. are going to get immediately updated after the ROM is installed. Other apps like calculator and Quickoffice, I will be installing replacements and upgrades.

This then leaves both the old (in /system/apps) and the new (in /data/apps) copies in the phone. Would it not be more space efficient if these apps were removed from the ROM before flashing and then installed afterwards?

Because the apps on the ROM is getting old as time goes by, maybe it's time to create a minimalist version and let everyone install current versions of the apps as needed.

Are the ROMs block-aligned when flashed such that it wouldn't make a difference unless you remove enough data to free up an entire block?

A big "Thank You" to Gene and ATTN1 for their work in maintaining this for the Aria users.

Yes you can open the zip file and delete the files from the /system/app directory before you flash the ROM.

No. The system partition and the data partition are completely separate. The system partition can hold up to 240MB and the data partition can hold up to 185MB. Freeing up space on the system partition will not give you any additional space on the data partition.
