99% of Android handsets have critical account credential security bug according to The Register

It was true, I believe google sent out a small patch to fix it though today or yesterday. But even though this flaw is there, there's hardly anyone that used the flaw to get information. There's flaws like this in every operating system. The only thing you can do is just put a door infront of it so it can't be exposed anymore.

The fact that it only affects users of unsecured wifi has a limitation on it's severity also.

Why would anyone use Unsecured WiFi anyway? I don't go to get my Postal Mail without Clothes on... Some people I will never understand.

Unfortunately, wifi at cafe's is usually unsecured...

All software have vulnerabilities. As long as it is patched before people exploit it there's nothing to worry about.

Pretty much this. There's no ACTUAL reason to use a network you distrust. You have to turn on some good sense as well, not just your wi-fi.
