Really amazing work! Works perfectly on CM7.1. Image quality is as good/bad as stock :P Average size-3.2mb.

I'm having this brightness issue that I wanted to report. It keeps happening randomly. I tried terminating the camera app from Advanced Task Killer but it didn't help. Its the same even after reboot :/
Anyone with a similar problem?

Is it just me or are the pictures very dark?

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It goes so low that I have to discard `em. Same with videos.

Tried keeping the overall system brightness high and did a reboot. Even tried reflashing it with ROM managee. Nothing worked.

This earlier post was when I tried it for the first time. The second time I tried to take a photo, it was all dark

@akshay,

you mentioned that it is random.
could you elaborate how random ?
is it somewhat reproducible ?
i just tested mine, took two photos with flash, recorded a 3s HD movie, took two photos without flash, took a photo with exposure max, took a photo with exposure min, and took a photo with exposure set +0.
they all look accordingly-normal.

Okay, so. See, i flashed this MOD two days back. It worked fine for like 12 hours( I took photos 8 to 10 times during that duration). It worked brilliantly.
The next time i started the camera to take photos, the brightness was terribly low. So i rebooted and started the app. It worked fine for 2 3 times i used it.

The next time i started it before my 1st post, it was working well. Then it was gone when i finally reported the problem here.

So that's how random it is. It's still dark.

Edit: I'll upload the samples after 12hours since it happens to be night here in India.

i don't think it matters, but lejay's mod has been merged to nightly 65.
no need to flash his mod any more.
those in lejay's first post in this thread were compiled long before .... (unless he updated. i haven't checked.)
a recent version was posted a couple of days ago.... (don't remember when...)
the recent version should be identical what was merged in nightly.

Alright. It seems to be working perfectly now. Seems like a hardware issue. I'll flash back to stock and post about it. Please delete my comments if it turns out to be a hardware one.

Thanks a lot

Default ZOOM MENU

this mod does NOT remove ZOOM MENU in Video Mode.
+ volume button zoom
+ forced label of front camera

flashable zip of Camera.apk at http://www.mediafire.com/?k3uyxeus386uitw

edit: file updated based on nightly 69
