Question [Q] Can i make my laptop an AP for Ideos X5?

I have a wireless router. its a Zyxel P-661HW-D1. My laptop can connect to it...my PSP can connect to it...my girlfriends IPOD Touch 4 connects to it....but my Ideos X5 will not!!..after days of endless searching the internet it seems that it might be an incompatibility issue. But no one knows for sure. Therefore i decided to try and turn my Laptop into an Access Point to see if my Ideos X5 would connect to that instead. And i can`t figure out how to do that either.....some say android phones cannot work with ad-hoc...but i dont know what that means.

Basically what i wanna know is...is there any way i can get my x5 to connect via zyxel router or laptop?
Or do i need to buy another router?...ive got none others avaliable to do a compatibility test =x

Yea thanks for the google search...but believe me ive sifted through every tutorial that there possibly is...as well as all the youtube tutorials. It seems easy enough, but to get a smartphone to connect to your laptop AP seems to be another story. But if anyone has successfully managed to get a smartphone to run off a laptop AP , id love to hear what steps you took.

Though as we will see..i dont think anyone will be able to say that they have. Hence proof of the problematic situation i find myself in ^^

Thanks anyway ^^

i don't remember which of the guides i had followed but the previous summer i created a wifi-hotspot with a netbook (with 3g) and at least 3-5 devices where connected simultaneously (other laptops , smartphones) and one of them was mine nokia 5800xm....
so yeah they work and that they are smartphones i think that it doesn't matter...
if it didn't work it might need an extra adjustment that it missed you...
keep trying!

Android will not show Ad-Hoc networks. See Here:

http://szym.net/2010/12/adhoc-wifi-in-android/

Kernel needs to be patched to allow Ad-Hoc connections.

Try Virtual Router Manager but I think that what you want just works in windows 7 because it needs a service that exists only on win7/win2008.

For about 60usd you should be able to get a tp-link 1043 which is one of the best routers to buy if you do not care for gigabit-wan and for 5Ghz (I suppose you do not care).

I know, you still need to have the money for that, I am just providing an alternative solution for your problem.
