That's my personal experience and I have to say that sharpness is a thing that you will miss on a PenTile Matrix display. PenTile Matrix displays actually have ~30% (not very sure) less sub-pixels pixels than normal RGB displays and that is because each pixel has 2 sub-pixels instead of 3 (half the pixels have green and blue subpixels and half the others have green and red).

AMOLED seems to just be the better screen technology. As long as LCDs are going off of one backlight, they're going to look washed out when viewing from odd angles. The only reason HTC is putting in SLCD over AMOLED is due to shortages.
