[Q] Silicone gel skin...
Anyone think we're ever going to see these?
Almost every major device (iPad, Galaxy Tab, etcetera) has them available, almost all made in China and cheap (roughly less than ten dollars).
If we haven't seen them by now, would that be an indication that we'll never see them? Hmm...
The only thing that might be a hindrance to silicone gel skins is the keyboard dock. Since I don't have the dock I can't tell what the spacing between the two are but I know that the bottom can't have extra padding because the connectors have to insert into the device to dock.
Maybe the manufacturers think the gel skins won't sell because the tablet with skin on is hard or impossible to dock with the keyboard and thus they might not see a profit in making these? For example, the Droid 2 never really had a one piece silicone case made for it because it has a sliding keyboard so most of the silicone cases were two piece (one half for each half). Even though a one piece could have worked for those who did not want to use the physical keyboard, the manufacturers never saw it that way I guess.
I just don't want the device to be like the Viewsonic G-Tablet or Huawei Ideos, never having a silicone gel skin case for it. It seems like the Chinese companies make them for devices that can sell well and Asus Transformer should fit in that category but I can't say for sure.
I do see an Amazon listing for an unofficial screen protector for the Asus Transformer that I did not see before so hopefully things are changing and unofficial accessories like the gel skins will hit the market sometime in June or after...
