[Q] Contacts and Messaging icons

some versions of the Galaxy S II have different Messaging/Contact icons.. i can't figure out why they're different on the phone i bought from Expansys.. it's UK Generic and it's been updated to KE7 but the icons have been the same way out of the box

if no one can answer can i at least have theories as of why this could be?

i have the same icon as the 3rd picture . i think its cause the retailer SGSII has a different kernel cause correct me if i am wrong the ginger break won't work in the retailer SGSII for the same thing. not sure tho ..

I don't think it has anything to do with the kernel

That was pre-release software using the same icons from Touchwiz 3.0. Samsung updated them to the icons in the third picture before release. You'll see that the status bar is different in the second image too which is also true of Touchwiz 3.0
