Hi, I thought some of you would be interested that with the 2012/07/05 leaked 4.0.4 from samfirmware it comes a new pit file, it seems this is the first pit file for the I9100 that have surfaced so far, apart from the original one.
Strangely enough this pit file named u1_02_20120326_emmc_EXT4_8GB.pit which would make the internal sdcard partition only 8 Gb. I thought there were no 8 Gb I9100 in production? Maybe they are are going to release a new I9100 variety with only 8 Gb memory?
I've seen reports from fellow spanish users that actually flashed this ROM with the new PIT file and repartitioned the device, despise of all advices against it, and found out their sdcard size was shortened to something about 8 Gb.
I compared the files and, apart from the differences in the UMS and HIDDEN partitions, surely because of the different size, they also a different bytes at the beginning, which are 00 in the original one but not in this one, I'm not sure what it is. Hope some of you who are really knowledgeable would like to take a look at this.

My guess is that this is for another hidden binary counter for Triangle away to no longer work. Samsung are on to Chainfires work already and they are also aware that he announced that Triangle away the last release was probably going to be his last. so this would not at all surprise me.

Youtube HD in this version also has a kernel dependency that *may* (I am not talking from any experience here?) have something to do with the pit file?

i tried to wipe data to install a new ROM. but whenever i try to wipe data for format data in recovery my phone hangs and restart. now i am stuck as i am not able to install new ROM and old data is gone. can somebody help ?

Nice effort... This bricks sucks.

hey odia, i have an idea, can i dd the content of sbl1 partition to sbl2 just to have a backup bootloader?

Just curious, CRC for the pit file's contents? Is it Odin supposed to check for that CRC before letting you flash an invalid PIT file?

With U-Boot working it'ld be easier, but even with the current kernel a few changes to mounts in init.rc would be able to boot from a partition on the sdcard, although the u-boot method is much cleaner, as it could load a different kernel for either booting from the internal mmc or from external.

Is there a method out somewhere which looks into External sdcard first and ,if there is a kernel and/or Rom wthin it, starts it?
And of course if there is none, phone starts the Rom at eMMC.

I mean, some thing like Windows boot order:
First check Ex Sd Card, Then HDD.
Whicever has a botable media, then load it.

Hi,

My SGS2 is bricked. I've already opened a post here.

I was running Slim Bean ROM (4.2.2) without any problem for more than a month.
However, few days ago it was suffering some lag and I decided to reboot.
Since then, it remains in Samsung logo screen and nothing happens.

I can access Download mode and Recovery.
Nevertheless, Recovery mode doesn't show any options so I'm not able to do a wipe or install a new ROM from there.


I've been trying anything with Odin (flashing recovery, kernel, stock firmware...) and I always get an error in NAND write Start! statement.

I discovered Heimdall last night by chance and I tried to flash a kernel with it. Didn't work.

Could you lend a hand on this? Find attached my results for "heimdall print-pit" command.
