Unhappy Upgrading Memory on US Verizon Trophy

Quickly got my Verizon Trophy after watching the Win 7 wave roll across the world and other carriers. I was quick to grab my certified SanDisk 32GB microsd and head in for the upgrade.

We in the US seem to have a 16GB standard internal card compared to the European 8GB (USA! USA! USA!). The triumph was short lived though. Everything seemed to look exactly like the international versions and I followed to a successful insertion (giddy giddy).

On boot, I received the "Welcome to Verizon" screen and was prompted for a "Get Started." Elated! This quickly sputtered to a stall though and I ended with a "HTC" white welcome screen and nothing else.

Did a hard factory reboot a number of times and went back in and changed the card a few times. I could get back to the 16GB but the 32 would always stall with the HTC welcome screen and never progress.

The phone is back to the shipping 16 but battered and bruised from so many cracks and groans of the prying update fingernails.

Has anyone successfully upgraded the Verizon to 32GB or am I the loan loser? Could the hard watch Verizon has with the CDMA network allow them to better monitor us pesky upgraders???

from what i know, its the Class of the card that matters. when i upgraded my trophy to 32GB, i made sure it matches the same specs of the previous card (it was a class 2 sandisk 8GB mircoSD), so i bought a 32GB microSD sandisk class 2. i dont know if its faster, but i feel like nothings changed except the capacity, which i was really aiming for. some users had problems with class 4 cards from what i heard, but to be sure just match the class and manufacturer of the card.

Default Phone seriously problematic after 32GB card installed

Im also getting some problems with my handset after installing a 32GB card. All seemed fine until it started to reset its self randomly. This has only happened when connected to Zune so perhaps MS is putting a spanner in the works. My other thoughts were that it just might not be compatiable considering I only paid £25 for it.

Here are the specs:

Memory capacity: 32GB
Class: 6
Housing material: plastic
Working voltage: 2.7 - 3.6V
Working temperature: 0 - 60°C / 32 - 140°F
Storage temperature: -20 - 85°C / -4 - 238°F

Can anyone clarify which cards they are using if no problems have been experienced yet?

downloaderintruder - was your upgrade on the Verizon Trophy? I know the European’s have been successfully upgrading the Trophy and wanted to see if, perhaps, something was wonky with the US version. I had brought a SanDisk that was supposedly compatible but it’s really hard to tell given there is no serial number on the card or packaging.

stefanfuchsuk - great alias. There's a 10-page thread on upgrading the Trophy with a detailed spec of the compatible cards.
