Is it some specific plan? Or you can avail this offer irrespective of the calling plan you are in?

No idea about Vodafone Live! and Mobile Connect Services. I don't know whether they were/are active on my postpaid plan.
Regarding 3G, after I got the SMS that it has been activated it did not start working out of the box. I called up the customer care and had to enter few values.
Here are the steps I followed:
1. Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names.
2. The first entry in the list there was something like vodafone_gprs by default for me. Tap on it. Change the name to say "Vodafone live" (this is just a label and can be anything)
3. APN = portalnmms
4. Proxy = 10.10.1.100
5. Port: 9401
6. MCC = 404, MNC = 86, APN type = Internet (I think these values are the default ones, don't remember whether I changed these are they were already like that)
No need to change other values.
7. Note: 3G started working w/o me having to do this step in my case. I am not sure if this is necessary but the phone rep said something like this:
Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Network operators -> Search networks. If Airtel (yes, Airtel!) comes up in the list, select it. Otherwise, select the first occurrence of Vodafone.
You will know that 3G is working when you see H or 3G characters (for me, it's H all the time) with up and down arrows in the status bar at top.

What is wrong with the audio quality? Is it low during calls? Does your voice echo?
