Default NC Updated to 1.2--Unnootered--"Black screen of Death"

Hi Everyone,

I'm a newbie and I had this happen for the first time today.

Here's my story: I purchased my NC during the Ebay $50 off sale. It had version 1.1 software. I Nootered it a couple of weeks after I got it using Autonooter 3.0 and all was well. I routinely ran the battery to as low as 10% with no problems whatsoever.

When the 1.2 update came out I turned off my wi-fi so it wouldn't auto-update. After a couple of weeks, I decided to flash it back to 1.1 and manually update it to 1.2 with the info I found here at xda. Everything went fine. My NC hasn't been charged for about a week and, before reading a magazine for about an hour last nigh, I checked the battery level and it was 68% (I don't use it everyday). This afternoon I was reading the same magazine for about 30 minutes and all of a sudden it just went black and would not "wake up" or boot up. I remember seeing something about this on xda and read the thread but that seems to be some kind of issue with CM7, which I don't run.

Is this an issue with the 1.2 software (as was mentioned in the other thread) or could this be related to my previous Autonootering and flashing back to stock? Since I'm on stock 1.2 and not nootered now, is there a "fix" for me?

I was just about to make a bootable sd card and now I've got THIS issue to deal with!

Please Help!

Plug it into the usb port on your computer and it should boot up.

Thanks Kayak! I was able to get it to reboot by plugging it in when I got home but what I really want to know is if there is a "fix" so it won't die when the battery gets down to 30%.

My fault, In trying to explain everything I neglected to ask the question I really wanted the answer to.

It obviously shouldn't "die" at 30% battery. Sometimes power cycle/fresh reboot will fix it. Your nook might have misread the battery level or maybe it just had an error, I don't know. But if it happens again I would consider rooting it just to get a fresh install of 1.2 Plus, rooted 1.2 stock is pretty sweet with not a lot of effort at all. Mine occasionally gets stuck in what seems to be an "off" state, but it rarely happens. When it does, I just hold down the power button and it reboots. I've never had to plug it into my laptop to get it to start up again.
