Default App for email?

Hi guys,
First day with the new phone. Coming from a bb torch and was wondering if there are any apps to receive instant email?

Thanks

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

Um - the built-in email app? Just set it to push delivery. I'm assuming you are using an Exchange server for email?

for true push you want k9 mail in the market. there was also maildroid but people prefered k9 even though they had nearly identical features.

How is ActiveSync's push not "true push"?

well i havent cared to check lately to see if it improved but if you installed k9 on the captivate and had both running k9 would always give you a notification long before the stock app. but im thinking back almost a year, the email stock app may be improved now, lately i have only used my phone for checking email not replying or composing but i remember the stock apps being limited. k9 seemed more fully featured, could attach any file type and had a global inbox for all your accounts.

Well, I used "Improved Email" which is a slightly modified version of the stock app - primarily because it lets me setup multiple Exchange accounts. But anyway, I routinely get notifications of new emails on it before my desktop notifies me (granted, my desktop is running in "Cached Mode" - but still...).

oh sorry. due to insomnia my brain isnt working. yes the stock app may have push for exchanger servers but it doesn't for personal emails. k9 might not be "true" either but it is much faster than the stock app can be on your gmail and other accounts. i need to watch how i word things but what i was getting at is in many cases k9 is very near real time notifications for most email accounts.

In that case I defer to your experience. I don't really use my Gmail account, so I have no idea how quickly it delivers email. I only assumed the poster was using Exchange because that's Blackberry's claim to fame - and I've never understood why Blackberry users seem to think that BB is the only way to get their email immediately - Exchange server has had that functionality baked in for years.

well the gmail app delivers the gmails fast but that app sux for full time use
i used to use k9 and killed notifications for gmail and email. now i stopped caring, i dont have a work email anymore and i stopped using my other personal email from an isp i no longer use so im down to only my gmail but use my computer to reply now as nothing in my life is that urgent at the moment that i need to reply from my phone where ever i am. i may be out of touch with what works now.

Thanks for the help guys. FYI it has nothing to do with thinking that bb's are the only phones that can get instant email. Just some people arent as tech savvy or forgot since they havent owned htc/wm phones in a long time OR never owned android like myself.

I do appreciate all the help however guys!
