Default Acer A500 GPS not for navigating

I to have problems with the a500 gps unit. I called acer support and gues what. Acer support in the netherlands told me that the a500 wifi gps unit is not meant for navigating. They say that any problem with gps units on the acer a500 cannot be solved by acer since the gps should not be used for navigating anyway.. the guy told me i should have bought a a500 with 3g unit!.. those a500s would be able to navigate.

I have asked acer to confirm this officially via email, and i will post the email here when they do.. I'll be selling my acer...

Is the a500 wifi version really not supposed to be used for navigation?

--Edit: Acer has replied the helpdesk employee must have been mistaken. They understand the GPS unit is not working correctly and will come up with a solution... Wait and see.

They are speaking of Google Navigation, which requires an active data connection. The gps doesn't require data to work, it just doesn't work well.

Also, this is not development and shouldn't be in this forum.

Sorry, but that's an incredible bull****! Why would you put a specific purpose module in a device and then claim it is not ment to be used for that specific purpose. I use my A500 with latest Sygyc and despite some screen size issues (lowest dialogue buttons are slightly off-screen) it is working perfect. Its a brand new device with a brand new OS - takes some time for developers to make apps work flawlessly with these tablets or make separate versions for them.

Whereabouts in the world are you? If you're in the EU, you're statutory rights as a buyer are protected when it comes to faulty hardware and you should be able to claim a full refund.
Current Devices: Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7100), Acer Iconia Tab A511
Past Devices (too many to list, mostly Acers!)

True I am in the netherlands, so i think they must give me a refund, but let me first wait for their official answer in an email...

By the time you get that email, your statutory rights will have passed!

I doubt it... The law covers for up to 3 years with design flaws.
