Hi guys,

I´m basically a smartphone noob and know very little of custom roms etc. If I were to buy the Ideos X5, would I have the wifi connection problems or is it just the first batch of X5´s that has this problem and the new ones do not because they have a differen build? (B136 or B160?) Or are those all custom roms? could somebody explain it all? :P

B136, B160 (plus B158, and all other Bs) are different versions of the official ROM..
(there are a few customised ROMs around, but are irrelevant to ur question anyway.. 8)

for the wifi issue, i dont think there is an agreed explanation of the reason (hardware? software? early models?) and different people have different experiences on this..
for me, im having wifi connection dropouts with both of my stock B135 ROM and upgraded B136 ROM.. but since wifi is not a major concern for me, i can live with the problem..
others claim that it may be related to the wifi router or the protocol or the encryption used, so u have to try ur luck if wifi is really important to u..

other than this, i think X5 is a very good smartphone to have..

I've found my wifi connection to be nearly unusable if the AP is running WPA2.
If it's an open connection then it's solid as and never drops.

Someone said that changing the 802.11 mode can improve stability.
I have a zyxel router and with wpa2 it wont connect. But i changed to 802.11b mode (11mbps) and enabled wpa2, and guess what, it connects
Needs some testing to be sure tough...

There is no chance to connect to Wifi hidden SSID!
I tried with previous builds also (B136).

EAP method: PEAP auth
Phase 2 auth: MSCHAPV2

Anyone knows this problem yet?
Any solutions?

Brgds,
S.
I've installed official GB 2.3.5.
But still cannot connect to company's hidden SSID.
I have checked network settings with my colleagues at work and settings are ok.
So the problem lies somewhere in the phone not in my settings.
Anyone has similar problem?
