LiGux tools has the best ui and it can be used for reboot, shutdown your android devices.

Currently 5 functions included:
normal reboot
hot reboot
reboot to recovery
reboot to bootloader
shutdown.

It would be nice to gave a tool that works this way without root - thinking more about htc flyer here.

Yep, currently this is the method. After killing this service, the device will reload.

ATM, we cann't use this way. Because all the system level method are hidden for normal application.
