Saw an article in the last week or so saying the MHL televisions may come to US . . not sure, but wondering why the TV needs MHL to take video in via HDMI . . is this only a power backwards through the HDMI cable feature that needs to be added to TVs for MHL to work or does it add a microUSB port and new firmware?

Does external power to the MHL cable eliminate the need for MHL TV? Wouldn't the phone still need to have firmware/software for output through microUSB just like the PC connection?

guys, as I posted earlier, I've examined the kernel source code, and you're not going to get MHL output until someone (HTC or a dev) adds it to a kernel, and even then we still don't know if the Inc2 has the same hardware capability as the E3D/Sensation. So for now it doesn't matter which adapter you try, it's not going to work.

Not to be rude but your post extends out a already long thread which you were to lazy to read. Perhaps if you weren't lazy and took a minute to read threads would be much shorter.
One minute was enough, Tyler said, a person had to work hard for it, but a minute of perfection was worth the effort. A moment was the most you could ever expect from perfection.

MHL compatible TVs just add the power return to the phone to eliminate the need for the phones charger/power supply. thats it. obviously this will be a little more convenient.

Now it's 4 to 3 in favor of no TV out according to HTC reps.

Thank you for contacting HTC Technical support about if your Droid Incredible 2 device has a video out option on it. I do apologize that you have this issue with your device and I will gladly assist you with this today. The Incredible 2 device does not support any video out features. I do apologize for all the inconvenience that this may cause you.

Ok so I am assuming nothing has changed since last month but I figured I would post the question anyway. Would anyone know since this phone apparently doesn't have the MHL out would any custom roms and kernels give use the ability to do so?

Pretty sure the ability to use this phone to feed a tv is at a dead end. If it was a software issue, I am reasonably sure something would have been pushed out by now to deal with it.

Since HTC never promoted MHL for this model, and gave very misleading information repeatedly, I will be amazed if we ever see this feature work on our phones. This is my biggest beef with this phone! Other than that, it is near perfect.
