Just look which great success the devs got even without custom kernel.
Oh and btw: There are to less devs which try to help bypassing it for X8.

Not kernel, kernel is not cracked, it is modified, if you're talking about the bootloader, well that's an different story, Blagus and some more devs, (i cant really remember them) are trying to bypass it and put our own custom kernels on the phone, but unfortunately they don't have very much sucess, they did some progress, but they still have some things to do, like fix the miniloader and compile the new replacement kernel...No one really knows WHEN, cuz it's not like, hey i'll be done in 1 week, 1 year etc.. you can't know, one day you're working on it and bang, sucess...so There isn't really an ETA

whoever said there are no stupid questions... should take a look at this thread, he'll change his mind.

Let's hope that SE unlocks their bootloader, like HTC, Samsung and Motorola, but judging their actions about android updates, i doubt it.
