Default Xperia Arc is alive

For those who have still the Sony Ericsson word in the screen and the phone doesn't start (like my case), I tried with Flashtool and a lot of differents firmware, but the solution for my bricked phone was very easy
-Install Sony Ericsson Update Service v2.11.12.5
-select our device
-and install the new firmware.

Just a question for developpers here... In a bad day, I've tried to flash a modified .ta backup file of my Xperia S (addr 000008A2, from label "LT26i" to "LT26i Steph")... -> phone bricked
But, it's a incredible full brick : screen always black, top & botton led always off & USB is dead... absolutly no more USB detection when plugged to a computer

I love learning & understanding... please can you give me some usefull documentation about boot process ?
Thanks
Stephane
How did you renamed it? Did you hex edited it? If yes did you insert new characters or replaced blank ones? I assumed you inserted some extra characters so now you probably flashed a broken one. Also Have you tried removing battery, press the appropriate buttons to enter recovery mode, plug usb cable while still holding the buttons then insert battery? If it's still a no go then I suggest you fix plug the USB through testpoint method as you're directly shorting the connectors to force recovery boot up.

Thanks!! After almost 4 months my ARC is booting again!!

My ARC (LT15i) was on Android 2.3.4. factory settings (when I bought it second hand).
Then the ICS update came in.
After the reboot from update is was bricked.
Now is it is working again with ICS 4.0.4 dutch (4.1.B.0.431).
And oops, another system update came in (with wifi to 4.1.B.0.537) shall I update it? Or only with PC companion / Sony update service?
I do not know if the ARC is bootloader unlocked or so.
Is there a way to find out?

grtz,
Franka

u can check by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. if BL locked u can use sony update service otherwise use flashtools
